Should looters be shot on sight?

Of course not!

True that there are people who looted appliances but there are more people who looted for food, medicines, clothings and water. My brother was one of them and I am proud of what he did. He and his friends looted water on the first day. One of them took water from ten large piles of mineral water, one passes the water to my brother to pile outside the wall while he distribute the water to the people who were asking from them. There were old people, children, women and even pregnants who went to my brother for water. He pitied them so he give away the water they looted and didn't keep them all for themselves. They also looted for groceries but they only took what they needed. Again they shared what they took and divided the rest among themselves. He also told me that when they looted the new Gaisano he nearly got stab in the stomach by a broken glasses because the place is so dark, he was just thankful that his friend was able to grab the end of his shirt and prevented the accident. When they went to Kevins he was just able to get a shirt that is full of mud and since he has no choice, he just get what he was able to take.
For days there were no relief goods. People who were looting items shared their loots with their neighbors who were not able to gather for themselves. People in Tacloban was desperate to survive. There was no one to help them during their time of needs but themselves. They were cut out from the rest of the world, isolated with no idea if help will arrive.
Looting maybe wrong for you but for that moment it is the only way for them to survive for another day. I even asked my brother why did he resorted looting he looked me in the eyes and said, "te bahala nala kun tatawagon ak nira na kawatan kesa naman mamatay kami ni mama na pukrat it mata."
I just hope TS that the next time you post such an insensitive question, you try to put yourself in their situation first. You have no food, no water, no clothes, no shelter, no idea if help will even come and most of all, you're not even sure if you'll be able to live another day.
May the Lord bless you TS and may He vanish such wicked thoughts from your head.
