cuda cores/stream processors is 1+1=2 pag sli/crossfire so if the rendering software utilizes cuda/stream then yes

@Sempron Guy its not mine really.. sa aq ning ka.trade before.. ako tah i.suggest niya to buy another GPU for SLI.. although I guess it would be better to buy a newer GPU though..
@ LK,
i would suggest na dli lang sya mg xfire sa HD 4870 if ganahan sya maka save ug kuryente... dako2x gyud na kaon bro labi na mag sige'g full load (either in games or in productivity/design apps)... i'm from a dual HD 4870X2... samot to ka dako kaon ug kuryente akoang set-up kay equivalent to quad HD 4870 na sya then power hog pa gyud ang CPU ato (Q9550)... hinoon, barato ra man ang kuryente nko diri pero, saba kaayo woi... mura'g nag vacuum gyud... dili ko ganahan ma minaw ug music or mag surf sa net gud... acceptable ra kun mag games kay kusog man ang sounds sa speakers... UT3 ra pud akoang sige'g duwa ato nya... buto2x lang agi... hehehe... napalit ko nko ang rig as a slightly used 2nd hand unit for just around 2k rmb... around 11K php (less the keyboard, mouse & monitor)... mga 5.5 rmb to a php peso and exchange rate ato na time... pwerte ka barato... kay gibaligya sa mama ang rig kay dili na kuno mag tuon ang anak nya... hehehe... akoa pud gi baligya after 3 or 4 months ba to nko kay saba man gyud sya... samok if dili ta mag games...
anyway, if dili nya concern ang electric bill (mao gyud ni No.1 na Cons)... then its ok for a HD 4870 on 2-way crossfirex... manghod lang sya'g gamay sa electric iron for the total system power draw labi, kun power sucker pud ang CPU nya unya mag OC pa gyud... bisan idle power draw sa total system, dako2x na sya...

lageh boss.. I thought so @lloyd_joy, suggest nlang kha a cost effective card for that use boss..
^ bro LK,
the newer technology bro from both sides will do for a cost effective dual set-up... both on the "Price-Performance ratio" and "Performance to Power consumption ratio"... unsa man gyud ang main purpose nya for the rig? gaming (recreation) or productivity/ design apps (work)? if work related, unsa man ang software pud?
then pila ang allocated budget nya for the GPU if ever, mo decide sya to purchase a new or even a used one granting, mas better technology compared to his current HD 4870?
Go for GTX 650 TI Boost...
