Sa traffic lights near pacific mall gaisano kay wa pa nahuman og tukod, i dont know when to mahuman.

    To summarize the whole project, mao ni ang components:
    1) new LED traffic lights for 9 major intersections with 9 traffic controllers...maybe major is not the right word, should i say problematic/busiest intersections.
    2) 4 CCTV cameras for each intersection which is now working. a total of 36
    3) 18 KM of fiber optics cable to transfer data to the command center
    4) electronic board to be installed in the command center to simulate all the traffic lights in all intersections
    5) 9 servers with rack
    6) 9 55' colored flat displays
    7) softwares and firmwares
    Infrastructure components

    To give you idea of the features, here are some;
    MC traffic system has built in intelligence, as you can see in these intersections, there are sensors on the sides which look like cameras... the system detects absence or presence of vehicles in the particular lanes. If no vehicle detected for a certain time, system automatically cut's the time, but of course with extra care, i mean not immediately. This added feature is not present in any other traffic system in the philippines, even in Manila.
    The traffic lights can be controlled from different locations: on site through a wireless remote control, from the controller itself, or from the command center located in cityhall.

    The project costs 39M and for me its more than just a worthy project.
    The project started im May 2013 and will be completed in 9 months but as of now, it's almost done since all traffic lights and cctv cameras are in place and working.

    As Ive heard, the next phase is transforming Mandaue City Command Center into an intelligent command center. As we all know, Bantay Mandaue 161 Command Center is not just about traffic, but includes peace and order and emergency responses such as fire, road accidents, etc in partnership with ERUF, Fire and Police. Having more cameras does not mean we have to add people, the system must be intelligent enough to handle alerts, etc.

    Hope you gain more idea of what Mayor Jonas Cortes' plan. This is just a start to transforming Mandaue City into a smarter city.
    I want to start a thread for Bantay Mandaue 161 so people would know what it really is.

    BTW, as per info from a source, Traffic division in Mandaue City is currently discussing the pedestrian lanes as well as other signages necessary... this issue needs a coordination with DPWH especially those involving National highways.
