^hmm. I see. I get it now. thanks sir ladykILLer.

bitaw, i'd go for shutdown sad kay para ma refresh jud ang tanan, swap files, etc. usually if ma lakaw ko kadali, aku lang e down ang screen sa laptop (screen off lang). ana pod sa akung desktop. pero kung pag-ngon na, shutdown jud, para sa next boot, refresh jud tanan.

still for me for faster boot time i dont mine disabling any necessary bootup and startup application/service/daemon, i used this practice on both windows and unix... wala man sad mawala i manual nako ug start ako mga application if needed jud atleast autostart the application on logon with delay...

Use Hibernate as much as you like ^_^

bitaw bro..., for me..., the main point of usage of hibernate is that if you are in the middle of your work and you suddenly go elsewhere (emergency, etc) you enable hibernate as to "PAUSE" the system (saves electricity bill) and later you can "UN-PAUSE" it to resume your work! PERIOD!, NOTHING MORE!, NOTHING LESS! ^_^

it really does not matter if PC bah or laptop..., as long as you know what your doing. (ug ngano gud dili gamit ang hibernate sa PC beh in my example? ^_^)

and..., hibernate and sleep/standby are very closely related.
hibernate uses HDD to save the state of the system (no power needed.., so total shutdown..., so save electric bill)
sleep/standby uses RAM to save the state of the system (need power atleast)

lastly..., reboot/shutdown once in a while if makahinumdum ka ^_^ aron sab ma-refresh ang imo system.

sauna i use hibernate once in a while, its an awesome features but after the year... dont really see the benefit... you could get back to your work fast... well depende if you live in your computer... then by all means... but if you have a life outside it... i think shuting it down is a very good idea...
