well, why don't you have fellowship with our kababayans in the US to again learn to speak Tagalog?? This is one easy way learn back what is being lost.

Do not make this another Bisaya vs. Tagalog thread. If you would kindly get your heads out of where the sun don't shine, his question actually applies to both languages. It's just that, I assume, he's parents are tagalog. There are very few filipino-americans who actually speak their native tongue even if their parents are pure tagalog or bisaya.

    you could...

    a. tell your parents to talk to you in your native tongue (tagalog, bisaya, panggalatok, chabacano, etc.)
    b. tell your friends to help you practice speaking the language. (in essence, they too will be learning from it.)
    c. watch a Filipino movie
    d. watch TFC
    e. talk to people in the Filipino community center about learning the language and how you could help propagate it.

this is a thing about us Filipinos; once a culture is introduced to us, we're very good at adapting and adjusting and eventually neglecting our true culture. some of us even go to the extent of despising our roots.

but like what others here have mentioned, as long as we understand each other and are able to convey our messages clearly, whether in vernacular or not, it's ok. as long as we don't forget the good in our culture and the things that we have learned as Filipinos.

ako, wa ko blema ana'ng bisaya. kay bisa'g mag perfect American accent pa ko, BISDAK gihapon ko'g nawng!!! hahahaha!!!
