What made you think that will not work? Poor regions will learn to be self-sufficient instead of local politicians relying on national government to fund their "ghost" projects and channel money into their pockets.
If regions are poor, the ones running it will work hard to get money flowing into that region... So, either you work hard to make your region progressive and get something out of it or don't get anything at all.
posible man ta kaayo ni if ang mindset sa mga pinoy parehas pas mga Japanese and Singaporeans. Lisod kaayo disiplinahon ang mga pinoy, bisan gibutangan na ug paril in between lanes ug warning na huwag tatawid: nakakamatay, sus mukatkat lang gihapon. pila ra ka porsyento nato ang very passionate about ani nga issue, but in most provincial areas where vote buying is the rule rather than the exception, para nako parehas rana sila ug mindset sa mga kawatan na politiko. imo ingnon ngano ibaligya man imong vote, tubagon lang ka nga sus tanan politiko kawatan, walay mapili. maypa mangwarta nalang ta ron. example, tan-awa si HOnasan, pa hero-hero sauna, unya ang ending he found an opportunity to enrich himself because majority of the politicians do it. But I'm not being cynical. I still do believe there's hope for the Philippines. Change could not happen overtime sa ato situation, but the fight goes on. We should never forget this issue..
Government should at least relax foreign ownership rule. Bisan sa economic policies lang mag start. hinay2x lang gud...
I'am saying again, ila gi studyhan if mo work ba ang federalism sa ato, and their conclusion was that dili daw mo work tungod sa reasons na ako gi mention ganiha. Thats what I think, thats why it will not work. I trust their better judgement compared to mine since they are experts.Originally Posted by kazki

Unfortunately I could not, I forgot where I have read it from.
But if you will try to research, I am pretty sure you can find it.
Or those experts with political science or economics I think knows about that.
Restructuring the form government is only one side of the solution. The more difficult side is the change of political philosophy of the people. Education is key, but not the kind of education the public is getting right now. We need a total different perspective on what really the role of a government should be, and its powers must be limited to what is enumerated by the people. Why is this philosophy important? Just look at USA, Federal in form, but its Federal government is encroaching on State rights and implementing programs that are redundant and are unwelcome to some States. They have forgotten the initial intention of their Founding fathers, to limit the size and scope of the national government because it is evil in nature, but a necessary one.
Eventually, Philippines must decentralize its government to become prosperous, not just progressive.
Jst my 2 cents:
Key lies in the judiciary system... Pork barrel can help lots of people if spent well...
Our govt system is ok if politicians exercise moral authority...
We're just gettin used to the thought that nobody in the govt ever goes to prison...
Sadly, here, justice is only for the rich... Dri rko kita na non-bailable crimes mahimo bailable... Wtf??
Moreover, cases here drag-on normally for more than 10yrs....
But despite all this, im still happy here... And its true - its more fun in the phils![]()
