43 hours talk time guyz!!!
ok i got ahead of myself there...this is my initial impressions on the just released successor of the highly praised P770...the LENOVO P780. ive used it for few days now and i think they have a bit of a hit and miss here.
let me start with what's great about the phone and what has improved over its predecessor. HD display updated jellybean quadcore dualsim dualcam dualmic with 4000mah super extended battery life. these alone would make me want it. but one thing that is NOT published but is a huge THUMBS UP for me is that it has Geo-magnetic. i think im the first to confirm this, yes this has built in compass sensor that most 2nd tier brands don't have. the one thing i felt the P770 could have greatly improved on, and they did it here! honestly i wasn't looking forward to this unit since it was announced. all the lenovo reps i spoke to said walang compass. all sites i've viewed including lenovo site, gsmarena, gadgets.ndtv.com etc. do not include this on the spec sheet or specifically indicate no compass. im so glad it has it as its very useful combined with google maps specially for those who travel like me.
while the back camera is an improved 8mp bsi one that ups the quality by a decent margin, the 720p front camera is a different sorry. it may be bright enough but lacks so much detail and its not wide angle that its a letdown to say the least.
its bigger yet they kept the tiny sleep key on the top which makes it hard to reach especially one handed. they could have placed it on the side like the galaxy.
built quality is better with metal materials used and all but the battery is none removable, they just added a hard reset button. personally i don't see it as a negative since the battery life is super amazing enough it just keeps on going.
but then who needs 43hours talk time?! 99% of users would have been happy with the P770's 3500mah 29hours talktime. then again we can never have enough power can we? however i would have preferred if they kept the phone more compact. 4.7inch nalang sana not 5inch or kept the body as compact as the galaxy s4. a slimmer P770 with added features and higher specs would have made it my dream phone. not join the supersize bandwagon every other manufacturers are doing. i never appreciated extra large phones. this device already has its niche. that much power, it doesn't need to be physically bigger. its simply the wrong move in my opinion. then again i know many people who like larger 5inch+ screens. it may not be my dream phone but overall i think its a winner
