change the form of government or change the constitution. if that politician end their term they should not be re-elected even their immediate family or relatives. from that position they should run to higher position. dli lang ana nga gikan sa mayor then end of term mo dagan ug vice mayor then after that back to mayor. it should give chance to other people. karon from president down to the lower rank. wala jud ma pili. maskin mo ana pah nga vote wisely kung wala jud kah choice, wala gihapon.

Mao bitaw na atong Congress and Senate is top heavy kay lucrative kaayo ang Politics. Naa pa gyud SK, Party List, etc. On top of the P5 million monthly income naa pa gyud daghan kurakot sa PDAF. Uso pa redistricting to create more congressional seats in addition to the partylist na walay pulos. Sus unsaon na lang ni uy ang Pilipinas uy.

MANILA – Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago said a senator can make as much as P5 million a month from sources other than the monthly official income.

Santiago said the P90,000 monthly income of senators is “misleading.”

“In truth, Congress has devised a labyrinthine method of paying individual senators and congressmen very much more than their salaries under the Salary Standardization Law. It is like the ancient Japanese capital cities which were designed with labyrinthine roads to prevent the enemy from penetrating the ultimate castle of the shogun,” she said during her keynote speech at the 30th Annual Convention of the Philippine Blood Coordinating Council on Wednesday.

Santiago enumerated the other sources of a senator's income, which includes chairmanship of an oversight committee, or membership in the Commission on Appointments.

She said if a senator is a chair of two oversight committees, the senator earns another P70,000.

If a senator is a member of seven oversight committees, the senator receives P210,000.

Another P200,000 will be given to a senator who is a member of the Commission on Appointments.

Santiago added that discretionary funds are also under the control of a senator amounting to at least P2 million to P4 million.

“If we add up all the sources of individual income, a senator could be making P600,000 to P5 million monthly. And this does not include the commission of 10% to 50% from the pork barrel,” Santiago said in her speech.

She also said that if the senator is elected as one of the Senate officials, “that senator gets even much more than his colleagues.”

“The 2011 COA report said that in addition to the personal income of a senator, the following officials received much more just being officers of the Senate: Enrile as Senate President P71.7 million; Estrada as Senate Pro-tempore P9.3 million; Sotto as Majority Floor Leader P9.3 million; and Cayetano as Minority Floor Leader P10.2 million,” she said.

Santiago proposed that the government should release the information on lawmakers’ income through a website accessible to the public.

She said the website should also contain a list of all discretionary funds.

“Access to information is necessary for self-preservation of the nation,” she said.

The only problem is our system, I think kung kamo pud naa sa ilang position modawat kaha mo ug 90T a month ka pressure anang trabaho.a.

I agree naa jud saktong transparency nya e limit ang discretion in spending the allocated funds in every senator. For me with what senator Santiago said, it's nothing to be alarmed, we should be glad na abot ta ani nga situation kay in due time ma usab man gyud ni.

I think this is the time for us to stop whining, mo reklamo man gani ta naay valid and substantial suggestion dili kay cge lang ta pasangil.

To think ha, kaning info nga gihatag ni Sen. Santiago medyo foul gyud ni considering the situation of our nation, pero tan.awa sila Noli De Castro and Ted Failon former legislator wala may imik, ga buwa2x ra ang baba ug cge panghimantay.

My point is, this is our time as ordinary citizen to act and prove that we are indeed the boss.
