    How can a non--math oriented person prove that 2=1 (can a lawyer prove that your 2 peso is just equivalent to piso??):
    1. Let a and b be equal non-zero quantities
    a=b
    2. Multiply through by a
    a^2 = ab
    3. Subtract
    a^2 - b^2 = ab - b^2
    4. Factor both sides
    (a-b)(a+b) = b(a-b)
    5. Divide out (a-b)
    a+b = b
    6. Observing that a=b
    b+b = b
    7. Combine like terms on the left
    2b = b
    8. Divide by the non-zero b
    2 = 1
    sayop ang number 3 nga statement pero sa mailad lang

    Step 5, not step 3, is a mathematical fallacy..

    Take note, if any real number divided by 0 is undefined...

    at case at bar, a - b is zero, cosidering the first equation a = b.

    Thus , when you divide zero in step 5, the steps thereon is already erroneous.

    Im an engineer and taking up law. I believed they completely compliment because in engineering we are trained to think analytically and outside the box - digging into solutions and beyond valid arguments. No much different in law. In fact, the combination is a killer!

    It can even mean 10 for someone who does binary notation.
    1+1=10
