The first iteration of this carbine(Colt model 777/779) sports an upper with built in carry handle like the M16A2, with later models(920/921) having a flat top upper. Fire control are usually of the safe-semi-auto variant, although some older models come in safe-semi-burst, all have the M4 government profile barrel. The later model M4A1(921HB) sports a beefier M4 heavy barrel profile.

If you are planning on getting a Colt M4, I do not know of a store that is selling, much more barato pa... I have not yet seen one in civilian hands, the ones I saw and handled are owned and used by the armed forces...
Yes, there are rifle competitions here, most all the rifles you can see are being modded in one way or the other...
