Question HDD click 1TB need your opinion

    Mga Bro!

Ask lang ko inyo views. My 1TB HDD is making just 1 clicking sound. Mahitabo ra ni cya (not all the time though but the frequency is quite noticeable for my standards) after booting from a long period of the pc being shutdown then the first action to open that drive to check folders, etc. ara ra cya murag mohimo ug short vibrating sound (ang pagtuyok sa plates most likely) and sometimes makes just 1 clicking sound. Then after ana wa nay noise whatsoever.

Per check disk and hard disk sentinel (passes tests on seatools) no errors and in perfect health. Is this what they call the normal clicking sound ?

    HDD info:

    Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 rpm
    Firmware: JC4B
    Not on raid setup
    Intel rapid storage technology installed

    Matsalams!

Same condition with my MSI netbook bro. Naa sya random clicking sound usahay but more frequently during startup and shutdown. Im thinking its more of a power-related issue (power burst during startup and power trip during shutdown).

Ambot lang pud. Yours might be a different case. But this [the first action to open that drive to check folders] is quite normal i guess.

tnx Bro Keropi for your input, i just wanted a vote of confidence that this random clicking is normal. Could be the orientation/positon of the HDD inside the chassis.

is this a new sound? wala ka kabantay ana sa una? if YES...then backup daan...a clicking sound is normally the first sign of a dying drive...

modern drives today normally don't make a sound during autoparking/execution of their spinup/spindown profiles...

Tnx Bro Simoko already did backup the moment i noticed it, it like its 4th-5th month from purchase. Guess what latest scan shows 1 bad sector. I believe warranty/rma is not yet possible in this case right ?

Dili unta gyud na mo click unless sa initial power up ra if mao nai paagi sa drive, epa warranty nalang na to be safe.

check imo cables and/or power supply. i got issues like this na hdd sentinel(always running in background) detects bad sector, but mawala like after a few hours or days or so, them mubalik napud. changed the data cable, ok for a while until nibalik napud. changed the psu with another generic power suppl, wala na mubalik.

Lesson : get a branded more reliable psu
