Basa sad gud mo ug History pag may time.... or News lang...

It was 28 years ago today that Fr. Rudy Romano, a Redemptorist missionary priest, was kidnapped by armed men in barangay Labangon, Cebu City.
The Redemptorist missionary priest was popular for protecting the poor and leading the campaign against human rights abuses during the reign of former president Ferdinand Marcos.
Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma urged parishes to remember Romano's disapperance today.

At the time of his abduction, Romano was a known leader of the anti-Marcos protest movement in Cebu.
He was the vice-president for the Visayas of the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan).
The Cebu City government installed a marker in barangay Labangon where Romano was abducted by armed men of the deposed Marcos regime.
The Cebu provincial government also passed a resolution “adopting Fr. Romano as a son of the province of Cebu” since the priest promoted human rights and rendered concrete assistance and social service to less-privileged Cebuanos.
Romano, a native of Samar, also made Cebu a bastion of the people's successful fight for freedom and justice during the dark years of Marcos' dictatorship.

As far as i know we are more capable of paying off any debt than singapore. we have more resources than them. and speaking of a dictator, LEE KUAN YEW ruled as prime minister of Singapore from 1964-1989. he may be a different type of dictator but imagine, in Singapore you are not allowed to chew gum in public, you can go to jail if you're caught not flushing the toilet. and do you know how much tax they pay out there? one of the most expensive countries in Asia. and civil disobedience are not tolerated. a lot of people died during the transition. we almost have the same history. they too have been conquered by the japanese and by westerners. they have also acquired a huge debt. they also experienced terrorist attacks, 1997 Asian financial crisis shook them badly and if you can remember SARS? everything was down! now tell me, how come, a country with no agriculture, mineral resources, oil reserves, and Industrial machineries survive? IT IS THE SYSTEM! they have corruption too if you may ask, but because of their system, it has lessen a lot! it is not about the past, it is not of who to blame, it's all about how to fix and change the system. i just hope, that in my lifetime i would see that leader who will change it and steer this God forsaken country into a bright future! No more blame, No more looking backward! We have been doing that for a half a century and we are still stuck in a THIRD WORLD!

i didnt get your point... youre comparing marcos to lee kuan yew? theyre totally different. marcos taught us how to be corrupt while lee taught singapore how to be discplined. lee managed the country's debt properly while marcos spent it like there's no tomorrow. its not about the system... korea is not run the same as singapore, korea has always threats from the north and we have resources arguably better than korea but because their leaders were thinking for the welfare of the people. thats why they succeed not like marcos who is thinking for his pockets and give false information to the people to stay on power. and about your fixing the system.. you want the son of the person who gave us all the misery to do it? no wonder why we dont succeed coz we never learn.

Marcos is no doubt one of the most corrupt leader of all time. He should be at the top 2 most corrupt of all time - the whole world.

Marcos was an intelligent person. He had strengths but had weaknesses too. His strengths were overshadowed by his weaknesses. He was controlled by his wife.

The corruptions were attributed to him because he was the president, but obviously it was Imelda who instigated the stealing of people's money and resources and the greed to stay in power.

Marcos was a dictator who were dictated. FM was being controlled by his wife, Imelda. We have to be wary while this woman is still alive. Any close relatives of her should be avoided in a higher political position as much as possible. This woman is still of great influence and is living in abundance and luxury over her stolen money.

We were abused as a People since panahon sa Katsila. For almost 500 years we were suppressed and told that we are like animals, that we dont have rights. Imagine how long would it take for the people to HEAL from that Abuse?

Plus napun an pa sa Abuse sa Martial Law. Samot.

Although Sakto ka sa mga batasan sa Pinoy, because although we are Free but we dont really understand what Freedom really means.
