have you tried to install this : Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio
after u install HD Audio Driver for intel 3 and 4 series mobos?
and also
are you using an ATI or nvidia VC with HDMi?
the audio device of the VC is known to conflict with realtek HD audio
and { although | maybe it's not allowed to mentioned it here , sorry mods } i always use Blue Digit Flavored WinXP SP3 if i really wanted to use xp
otherwise i use windows 7 ulti x86 | x64
that mobo is surely install OS and play, no need to install driver for that boad model

thanks for all the replies but it seems none of the suggestions work. i assume that the audio chipset is defective already. i opted to buy a external audio card and it solved the problem pretty quickly.
