nagkadaghan lagi ning propaganda nga nag extol ni marcos as a "good leader", who has done a lot of projects. naunsa na diay ning atong education system? wa ni gitudlo unsay mga hiwi gipangbuhat ni marcos? nga not only he stole billions of pesos making him one of the biggest thieves in the guinness world records, but also corrupted our mindset by making us accept that corruption is common, and what is right is wrong?

The bottomline here I guess is despite the achievements that Marcos has offered to the country. There are still a couple of lapses in his management.

couple of lapses? you call a tyranny of 20 years couple of lapses? it's a deliberate, everyday decision of stealing, pillaging, usurping, pagdaog-daog ug uban pa nga gibuhat sa pamilyang marcos ug iyang mga cronies. you call building edifices an achievement? ing-ana ka corrupted atong minds nga kung makabuhat og usa ka butang ang usa ka tawo which is expected of him, mo praise ta niya. it is expected of him nga magbuhat og building ug unsa pa nang mga edipesyoha.

what's your point in saying nga tanang presidente nangawat sa pinas? two points coming out from this statement.
    1. your implication that ang mangawat ug mangorakot kay normal or given - really? that's what i've been trying to point out, our morality has been corrupted as well due to the gravity of what he did. you're implying nga tanang presidente mangawat and you accept that as a fact. like as if it's not a crime, like as if it's not shameful.
    2. ang kadako sa gikawat ni marcos, dili ma compare sa ubang mga presidente. well admittedly, sa unsa atong nahibal-an. basig ang mo-apasay kay si pres. arroyo ra. ang estimates aning Marcos Debt report kay up to $10 billion. that's in dollars. sa swiss accounts, it's reported nga ang mga marcos naay $13.4 billion. gibulsa niya more than 30% sa gibaylo niya para unta sa pilipinas.

karun, mangutana ko nimo. unsa man diay imong definition sa good leader? taga-i daw ta'g mga examples nganong good leader si marcos.

    .

So shall we call Jonah Hex now to start the discussion with macoy.

Nope it's not that simple ''daghan na ni kontra niya'' the truth is he was already
a menace of the entire filipino people and in his demise the entire nation jubilates,
why is that?, because he is a dictator a plunder. Why does he stayed in power for
twenty years and how much do we pay him thus he was able to amass billions
and stashed it away abroad, because he use the military and create scenarios
thus declaring the infamous martial law, able to stay in power, borrowed money
in the name of the philippine republic and deposited some of it in his accounts.
He is just a brilliant bandit I could say.

This is quite a nice read.

It was nearly 25 years ago that I got my first look at the diary of Ferdinand Marcos. I was an investigative reporter with the Los Angeles Times when about 3,000 pages of diary and other presidential papers were delivered to me in installments – on street corners, at a restaurant, in the lobby of an office building – all very cloak-and-dagger.

The documents were a journalist’s gold mine. I found bribery receipts and coded accounting reports recording official corruption. There were poems and love notes to First Lady Imelda and the Marcos children interspersed among Ferdinand’s plans for repression and dictatorship.

The diary itself contained the president’s private musings about power and his messianic calling to “save the Philippines” from an exaggerated threat of communist insurgency. Here, too, was compelling evidence of Marcos plots against political rivals, the press, and anyone who dared to criticize his administration.

But what caught me most by surprise were the lies – blatant, bald-faced, and occasionally comical. It turns out that while Ferdinand Marcos was lying to the world and to the Philippine people, he was also lying to his own diary.

As a writer trying to assess the news value and historic significance of the president’s journal I had to ask myself: what can be learned from a diary riddled with falsehoods and self-serving fictions?

Time has helped clarify the answer. Today I can see that his lies actually reveal a greater truth: Marcos was a dictator at heart long before he was a dictator at gunpoint.
