authorities are trained to deploy maximum tolerance. if they entered our seas, but did not fire a single bullet, even if they intended to ram boats of coast guard, they should still reconsider before firing a single shot towards the intruder. firing from a moving vehicle and targeting another mobile one can lead to disaster. even if they intended to just disable the engine, or whatever purpose.

and think as well, it's a fishing boat. you can't disable the engine too easily by just firing a single bullet. you may be able to do that if your a sniper. you will need to glaze the location of the engine with several continuous shots.

about home intruders, that's a different story, though taken in context, can have similar consequence. you shoot the person who trespassed, you were not charged since you have the law behind you and the person you shot is a thief, which could also kill you in your own house. however, with emotions and adrenaline pumping at that moment, you pull the trigger, without even considering the consequence of your actions. if you are a trained gun owner, you will still practice maximum tolerance, especially if the person who entered your house has no gun. you can just shoot them on the legs or some part where they can't harm you anymore (disabling the engine), and you can do that with a single shot. but, if you just shoot the person per se and kill him, for the reason he entered your house, cause you're some trigger happy junkie, try to reconsider as well that the person you killed has relatives, friends, and some co-worker thieves that may get back at you, and do the same to you, and worst, to your family.

Off topic: Ya, its just sad that the laws favor more of the intruder than the homeowner... Its not easy in a break in situation as everything can happen so fast, until such time that a phaser that can be set to stun is invented, deaths due to defensive shooting is still highly a possibility, no matter how well trained you are...

On topic: Sadder to know that we are losing this and Taiwan is still pressing the issue, up to when shall we keep on relenting? If the situation was reversed, could we have done the same and compel Taiwan to Apologize and compensate the slain fisherman?

  6. #186
depende yan sa agenda. taiwan is using this issue for their own benefit, whatever it is. if ma-reverse ni, basin dili mu-apologize ang taiwan, and it may still be the same situation. even kita pa ang nag-trespassed and pinoy pa ang napusilan didto sa territory nila, i think walang mabago sa situation. bullish mode gihapon ang taiwan.

  7. #187
the big problem is,, pinas government will tolerate one side and strong on the other,, they should have the same rules of engagement.. if those Taiwanese fishermen was escorted by their navy, would the pinas navy/cg would do the same?

I don't think it will be Taiwan. Let's calm down . I think some people are forgetting that Taiwan isn't China. I believe it's the biggest customer of American military hardware and probably their closest ally in the region, with a American mutual defense treaty of their own.
