    Default RAM brand inside Laptops

I'm so close now to buying an Asus laptop. I wanted to buy and have the store installed an extra 4GB to max the RAM from 4GB to 8GB. The store says it might cause the system to be corrupted. I do know that if you mix different types or brands of RAM will cause trouble. My question is...

Are the RAM brands installed in Laptops the same as those you can buy in comp stores? Which is easy to pair with the pre-installed Ram in the laptop.

Or are they custom made by the laptop company brand (kinda like in CDR-King rebranding)? Which is impossible to pair with.

Buying new 2 4GB's and have the one pre-installed useless are just too much of a waste already for me.

There are OEM rams, but usually you'll see common ram brands installed in laptops. There should be no trouble at all pairing with other ram of different brand.

My concern is.... if I have the store upgraded the RAM and the laptop got screwed, according to them, their supplier would void the warranty. The store would not take the responsibility.

Is that a good excuse? or I just don't know my consumer rights? Pls guide me.

Unsa na nga store? I'm not from cebu pero stores I knew here in Cagayan will do a ram upgrade for a charge but still retain the store warranty. Let's wait for others to confirm.

sa ako napalit nga ASUS laptop sa Octagon Valencia, wala may problema sa warranty basta sa ila lang ka magpakabit arun ila mailisan ang sticker, I purchased a RAM in greenhills then gipataud nko sa Octagon Market! Market!

I don't want to burn the name of the computer store here since my experience with them hasn't happened yet

They have branches in SM, E-Mall, Pacific Mall, & Rob Cybergate. But the fact that their supplier doesn't trust them to install upgrades made me think twice of letting them open the laptop. I guess they're not as established like Octagon.

All those talking and emailing from stores to stores looking for the lowest price, and now this, is taking a toll on me. It's making me question myself, do I really need a laptop?
