It would have been great if the author talked more about how difficult life is overseas. Several people, I know had several difficulties (financially broke, divorce).
The sacrifices you make are less when your family is abroad with you. Very rare do these people go back to phils if their family is already abroad. The people who develop problems abroad are people who cant adapt due to being alone, homesick.
There are more financially challenged here and living a poor standard of living compared there.

Agreed. After more than 10 years living abroad after arriving at the airport here it was like the dream had ended and I'm back to reality of life here in the Philippines. Why did I listen to my gf to come home to Phils.
Life can't be compared from a first world country to a third world country. Safety, cleanliness, service, convenience, lifestyle in general was better.
I was contemplating that I should have swallowed the blue pill. Lol

    The blue pill in matrix.
There's no paradise but japan was very near to paradise for me. You'll get it if you live there.
Even singapore is better than here. You won't hear filipinos there say they desperately want to go back home. Mostly they worry now that they will be sent home because MOM is cancelling their working pass.
My brother in the US with his two daughters, where I lived a few years, have absolutely no plans to go back here. But the US is not so nice compared to those two countries but better than here, sorry.

If you bring your family abroad with you I'm sure you won't feel desperate to go back home. You are in a better place with a better standard of living, better service, less corruption, safe. Where news is so boring that they talk about how milk prices have risen from xx to yy unlike the news here its always about murder, rape, etc.

nah. its not possible. my parents are both in the US. my grandparents are in Australia. there's still no other place like home. i just love cebu. i keep coming back cebu.

I thought paradise is where your family is so if they're not in cebu then its no paradise and not a home either but a just a familiar place now.
What I notice from people I've met abroad, the "lifers" who stay indefinitely, expats, etc they adapt well to any situation.
Living abroad is not for everyone especially those with little life experience. They don't make it past 3 years and want to go home to their mother country. So you have to be tough in mind and body.

    that's pure ignorant

ka nindot ra sa pilipinas compare sa Singapore, og US hahaha wa ka lipong? of course naka ara nako anang mga lugara i had my chances, but home is where the heart is (maybe mas nindot japan kai bias ko did2 nyahaha)

if you were worried nga naa ka sa pilipinas before, maybe you are not doing too well financially diri, spending too much earning too little. or bati ba kaha imong neighborhood, but basically naa man jud nai mga dark corners tanan lugar..

tungod kai ga lisod ka diri you have to drag everyone with you? lahi lahi rajud experience sa tao bai, kong asa ka happy ad2 ka but you never say that to where you came from...(you don't tell your mother "wa toi ayo si nanay gamay ratog na hatag nako") you don't blame people or places tungod kai bati imong kaagi. for me imong expression is pure bitterness sa imong circumstance sa pilipinas.
