i think what life everlasting means is the promise of Christ those who are faithful and on the last day..just like what was written in John3:16, whoever believes in Him will not perish but will have eternal Life.

i was explaining the resurrection part., resurrection of the body ni Papa Jesus.
for indeed the believer can have eternal life but without the body,

duha ka judgement sio but each soul is only judged once, after a person dies, that person immediately gets judged(first type of judgement)
if that soul rejects God with full knowledge and will dritso na na siya sa impierno
but if a soul has faith in God,humble ug even pa maldito kaayo samtang buhi pa, if the soul repents before God
that's where purgatory comes in, purging fire that cleanses the soul before it reaches heaven. it is also believed that purgatory have certain levels depending on how we lived our lives
technically the soul is saved by God's grace and mercy through faith
though not in heaven yet but in purgatory there's no other way but up..that is where the prayers
of the living comes in, the Church believes that the prayers offered for the dead will lift them up towards heaven, as how the Apostle Paul prays for Onesiphorus (2 Timothy 1:1
it is also believed in the CAtholic faith that some might have gone to heaven directly after death while some spent just a little time in purgatory
that's where the teaching about indulgence comes in, indulgence can be a form of sacramentals(confession and holy communion especially)prayers, charity works and all other stuff but it still boils down to our faith or the pureness of our hearts even sufferings and pains can be a form of indulgence if we accept with a surrendering heart and offer it for God's glory and salvation of others. but the ultimate form of indulgence really is martyrdom, as what Jesus said that there is no greater love than to lay ones life for a friend. highest act of love.
this does not take away the Salvation of Jesus on the Cross as it is Christ salvation and Love should be the only reason why we should be doing the things mentioned above, other than that, it is of something else.
indulgence merely reduces the time we should be spending in purgatory or if we can skip the phase.

the second coming will be the 2nd tyoe and Final judgement. if the souls of the departed were judged first,
in this time, so does the demons and the fallen ones, both the living and the souls that are still in purgatory. this is the final battle and also the time the Devil and his minions will see their fate..
also the coming of new heaven and new earth under God, without any form of Evil penetrating....
the current heaven and earth are passing, the souls who went through purgatory and reached heaven or those who have directly went to heaven are in the temporary heaven which will pass on the Last day.

old/current and new heaven: mark 13:31; Rev 21:1
