Guide:
- Download Samsung Kies and install it on your Windows machine. Samsung Kies is the official utility from Samsung which allows users to backup, restore and update their Samsung devices. Kies would need to be installed for drivers sake as both the Galaxy S2 and Windows would need to communicate.
- Download Odin 1.85 which is will be used to root the Samsung Galaxy S2. Basically, it flashes the kernel of the Samsung Galaxy S2 with a specific file. Moreover, you can use Odin to update your Smartphone’s firmware or flash custom kernels.
- Download CF Root File for the Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100. This file will flash your current kernel, thus, rooting the device.
- Run Odin 1.85 and leave it open.
- Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100 and put it in Download Mode by pressing Volume Down + Menu Button + Power Button all at the same time for about 10 seconds. Your phone will be booted into Download Mode.
- Press Volume Up to execute Downloading between your Galaxy S2 and your computer.
- Connect your Micro-USB cable between your Galaxy S2 and your computer.
- A yellow box should appear in Odin signifying that your Galaxy S2 is successfully communicating to your computer.
- Unzip the CF-Root File you downloaded earlier on and remember the location where you extracted the contents of that zip file.
- Click PDA on the lower right hand area and select the location where you saved your extracted CF Root File (filetype: tar).
- Click Start and your own your way to rooting your Samsung Galaxy S2. Note: Do not disconnect the Micro-USB cable. It will approximately a few minutes to flash the Kernel. Your Samsung Galaxy S2 will automatically boot up and a yellow triangle will appear at the bottom of the screen which means your device has successfully been rooted.
- Moreover, you can double check if it’s been rooted by finding two newly installed apps -SuperSU and CWM.
