Solid State drives - A solid-state drive (SSD) (also known as a solid-state disk [1][2][3] or electronic disk[4], though there are no actual "disks" present) is a data storage device that uses integrated circuit assemblies as memory to store data persistently. SSD technology uses electronic interfaces compatible with traditional block input/output (I/O) hard disk drives. SSDs do not employ any moving mechanical components, which distinguishes them from traditional magnetic disks such as hard disk drives (HDDs) or floppy disks, which are electromechanical devices containing spinning disks and movable read/write heads.[5] Compared with electromechanical disks, SSDs are typically less susceptible to physical shock, are usually silent, and have lower access time and latency.[6] However, while the price of SSDs has continued to decline in 2012,[7] SSDs are still about 10 times more expensive per unit of storage when compared to HDDs. - wikipedia hahaha

Common VISIBLE Benefits of getting a solid state drive:
    - Very fast start up and shut down time
    - Very fast data transfer, read and write speeds resulting in applications opening faster, applications operating faster.
    - Lesser to no power consumption compared to traditional HDDs
    - No noise produced from spindle since SSDs don't have magnetic tape spindles like traditional hard drives.

    CONS:
    - Higher data storage always means higher cost.

This is my experience with SSD.

    SSD vs HDD

If you want to use SSD on your desktop, you might need a 2.5" to 3.5" conversion kit so that you can mount it on the drive bay.
