sa CPU (even on the 1st gen Core series and their AMD equivalent) ug GPU (gaming discrete GPU in this case)... for sure, maka dagan ni sila ug rendering apps but ang question is, "How much time it can complete the processing?"... mura'g mao ni siguro ang atoang hinuktukan... kamong mga naa sa ani na field, naa man gyud mo 1st hand experience sa HW ug sa SW ani, your comments are very reliable in this discussion thread...
@ TS,
kumbate na kaayo nang planned set-up nimo for your need... if you want a higher spec CPU (i7 in this case), pwede man. i-tailor lang na ang expenses/ spending sa imohang budget... or you can still use that i5 and add the extra cash for a more powerful gaming GPU (diri ra man gyud ni dba? dili man ka mo venture to those Quadro or Fire series) para you'll hit 2 birds in one stone... but again, that planned GPU of yours is ok man pud... check lang on your intended application. basin mas better suited sya for an Nvidia GPU... the final decision will be your call...
by the way, do not use WD Caviar Green... the rpm spec of the Greens are adjustible... from 5,400 to 7,200 rpm... in reality, they operate most of the time @ 5,400 rpm... that is the main reason, why they consume less energy - thus making them compliant to "Green Product Specification"... hinay ang response time sa booting-up ug access time in reading (including launching apps, writing (dili kaayo ta maka bantay sa writing speed gawas large files) sa rig nimo... if you'll buy Western Digital HDD, better purchase the WD Blue Caviar (7,200 rpm fixed) or if you can shell out more, the WD Caviar Black (7,200 rpm fixed)... or the VelociRaptors (10,000 rpm fixed... targeted for workstations and high end desktops)... mahal lang ning V'Raptors nila...
the WD Green Caviar are well suited as a storage drive... and for HTPC that needs low wattage...

agree ko kay bos alwaysdrunk.
and if ang time ug how long ang isturyahan, well, wala man cguro rendering time na paspas kaau if pina ka sipa na specs na imo gamiton nya heavy environment imo i render, dugay man gyud na. kung ganahan ka mas paspas nya paspas ang production sa imo outputs, aw mo gasto gyud ka ug render farm. ana ra gud na ka simple if imo nana i negosyo/services ang pagrendering. kay if for sideline or private practice na nimo, ok ra na na dili kinahanglan naa ka achieve specific "render time"
techniques ra na mag daug, including na the settings. isa tiil sa mga nakasabut...hihihih
korak! archvin!
sauna sa amoa we use composite rendering labi na kung interior. una namo i render ang diffuse, then ang uban na daun like specular, lighting, blur etc.
bisan pag imo pc server sa NASA unya imo dunganon ug render kana tanan abtan gyud kag world war 3 usa mahuman hahaha
good inputs bro vin and alwaysdrunk...
about sa speed, basin naa'y big difference sa mga workstation na designed for this type of jobs? i don't know personally... in my field in the semicon industry, days ang difference if magpadagan ug simulation through FAE apps (the rig is running 24 hrs during processing)... to be specific, 2 to 3 days ang difference nila. depending sa gi simulate if desktop ug workstation ang gamiton... mathematical computation then rendering w/ animation ni sila... it might be a different thing on the rending process for design...
