The term "mythology" can refer either to the study of myths (e.g., comparative mythology), or to abody or collection of myths (a mythos, e.g., Inca mythology).[1] In folkloristics, a myth is a sacrednarrative usually explaining how the world or humankind came to be in its present form,[2] although, in a very broad sense, the word can refer to any traditional story.[3] Bruce Lincoln defines myth as "ideology in narrative form".[4] Myths typically involve supernatural characters and are endorsed by rulers or priests. They may arise as overelaborated accounts of historical events, as allegory for orpersonification of natural phenomena, or as an explanation of ritual. They are transmitted to conveyreligious or idealized experience, to establish behavioral models, and to teach.
Early rival classifications of Greek mythos by Euhemerus, Plato's Phaedrus, and Sallustius were developed by the neoplatonists and revived by Renaissance mythographers as in the Theologia mythologica (1532). Nineteenth-century comparative mythology reinterpreted myth as evolution toward science (E. B. Tylor), "disease of language" (Max Müller), or misinterpretation of magicalritual (James Frazer). Later interpretations rejected opposition between myth and science, such asJungian archetypes, Joseph Campbell's "metaphor of spiritual potentiality", or Lévi-Strauss's fixed mental architecture. Tension between Campbell's comparative search for monomyth or Ur-myth and anthropological mythologists' skepticism of universal origin has marked the 20th century. Further, modern mythopoeia such as fantasy novels, manga, and urban legend, with many competingartificial mythoi acknowledged as fiction, supports the idea of myth as ongoing social practice.

1. Who or what in mythology have YOU read that are interesting to read about?
Usually, I am into GREEK MYTHOLOGY! And I love reading about how there is still an AFTER LIFE place, specifically the place where HADES is and how it is in their belief to put a coin on the dead persons 2 eyes as a "plete" or payment for the soul of the dead once it crosses the river styx and rides on Charon's boat which goes into the realm of Hades....etc
Also have read about the GREEK LOVE STORIES between Gods, goddesses and humans etc and how their family tree is really widespread...etc

I love the story of CUPID and PSYCHE....LOVE STORY jud sya about proving one's worth to a person and proving one's LOVE to that person! Basta nice siya para nako! ehhee

Napadpad lang ko ani na topic coz I am currently watching ANCIENT ALIENS Season 5 and mentioned about the greek character ORION who was placed on the stars once he was captured! heheh That got me back into reminiscing my earlier reads on GREEK MYTHOLOGY! hehehe
