intel core I5 - 3470 will be slow if you are upgrading from 3 generations back like my two pc.

where can you get 70% performance jump other than intel.

    and that's no easy feat.

70% performance jump is a very big leap.

at that 8K + for the processor, the i5 reigns even against the 8core Fx8150

the real i5 tier is the Fx8350.

    for Adobe Apps | Photoshop, have a 2GB HD7850 DDR5 | 256bit for CS6 OpenCL biased performance

    or

2GB Nvidia 6xxx with CUDA and Physix for practical consumption /performance ratio for Adobe CS5.0 - CS5.5

for best of both worlds, have and intel with Lucid virtu mobo + Ati HD for main VC + Nvidia GT460 2GB ( huryhoy's @ buy n sell ) for supplementary card for Physix and CUDA

WD black SATA3 with 64mb cache for HDD

    500GB + 2TB | No Partition para safer

    or 256GB SSD + 256GB SSD + 2TB WD Black

and for processing performance..Intel is the way!

I was just expecting more compared to my 5 year old quadcore. 5 years, half a decade old cpu. Should be double the render performance.
But yes intel is the way to go. I haven't bought amd for almost 10 years since the athlonxp days.

pila budget? Consider an FX-8350 set-up as an alternative, could be faster than the i5 depende unsa nga software imo gamit pang render

ts ask lang ko unsa man ang imong i-render ani and what software? studio max, maya, cinema 4d or autoCAD? kung heavy ang objects(like environments) i-render this will take days or weeks to finish render with just an i5 processor pero mao lagi mag depende.

Btw the I7 3770 has decent igp with HD 4000. I haven't tested with fraps but I think its as fast as atleast a 430 GT. Not bad I think.
So getting a powerful cpu for rendering with ivy is the way to go. The HD 4000 is very useable with aftereffects and 3D appz.
Later on you can buy a dedicated gfx. Gfx prices go down faster than cpu so its better to buy the best cpu you can afford now and use it, then just wait for gfx cards to go down in price so you can add it in easily.
