    Default Back Up Storage Options

Ok... Siguro kita namo sa akong usa ka thread nga "near disaster" kay abi nakog impas na tanan akong files... I so trusted my Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB but even if you have a reliable hardware, Windows itself or other factors for unknown reason can sometimes make your system go haywire so karon, mag back up na gyud ko...

I am thinking kanang dili kaayo mahal... and for back up ra jud akong purpose...

Mao ni akong ma huna-huna-an og some reason why I considered it an option...

    - External HDD -->> syempre murag mao gyud ni pinaka sayun and for mobility purposes nalang sad... but if I get 1TB of this, I could already get a 2TB internal HDD out of it...
    - Internal HDD + Enclosure -->> decent brand nga enclosure (ambot asa ko ka kita pud). advantage nakita nako ani is i can be flexilble sa HDD type/capacity
    - Internal HDD + HDD dock -->> na consider nako ang dock kay akong plano mag back up lang periodically then ibalik sa HDD protective case and store it somewhere safe. same as above, advantage nakita nako ani is i can be flexilble sa HDD type/capacity
    - NAS -->> murag mahal2x gyud ni pero scalable man gud and ma access na pud over LAN...

Unsa opinion ninyo mga bro? Share sad mo sa inyong mga back up strategies... hehehe

    TIA!

I use DropBox for real time backup sa akong mga documents. Sa mga movies and installers, I use an external harddisk.

I have QNAP Turbo NAS TS-212 w/c I got for 7.5k didto sa TPC(diskless)...naa ni 2x2TB sata karon serving as backup for everyone in our home network...for my 2tb main drive, I have a backup same capacity in my xdock sa akong HAF-XM...this contains all the stuff not suitable for young/minor audiences...

NAS lang bro kay convenient kaau. Pwede anytime, anywhere ma access nimo ang imo mga files basta naa lang internet.

Pwede pud kana mga router with external storage + external HDDs you can also access them over LAN or internet

dili d i maayo na ang RAID5 implementation sud sa ur CPU?

or is there a technology now that re-construct RAID HDD after host failure?

or how safest is it to use RAID10 NAS?

or can we assemble a cpu and make it a RAID0 NAS?

i think there a lot of safety measures can be implemented to safeguard files

the question is : how much can u burn?

Torn between JBOD or RAID0. Either way if maguba ang isa ka HDD, guba pod ang array. Secure tong RAID1 pero kalas kaayo ug drive. Mahal raba kaayo :\

as i've said dili kaayo mahal and medyo obvious man siguro sa akong options nga basic back up lang akong plano og dili enterprise type... i only mentioned NAS but obviously pud home NAS type ra na as shared by simoko is a perfect example...

let's not get too technical to try to prove something out here shall we... let's just be realistic and practical...

anyhow, i already got a 1TB Seagate Backup Plus...

Mods please lock this thread para wala nay showdown of technical skills...

    TIA!
