Yes, sir T.
It's should always be the golden rule.
But on the contrary, the price of being BRUTALLY honest doesn't always been fairly rewarded.
In most cases it actually doesn't pays off.

Recently, I got acquainted online with a fellow istoryan.
He shares many of my interests, and we become close friends even just for awhile.
We chatted daily... but bcos of a revelation... that made him walked away (technically) from me...for good.
Wala ra ba gyud unta koy intention to go beyond "more than just friends" kayasa lagi!

Oftentimes,this is the downside:
We aren't likely to see anyone we meet as they really are - only an idealized picture of them.
When we meet this person or anyone, we should make an effort to see the real person behind the mask and accept them as they are.

That if you want him/her to be "THE ONE" that you've been searching all your life.
