I don't think so. Since we're talking about the Bible vs Science - if you believe the biblical account that the earth is more or less 6,000 years old, you've already stopped performing science. What's the point of doing the scientific process of finding out the age of the earth when you already believe without a doubt that 6,000 years is the "correct" answer?

Let's say you choose to continue doing honest science but then you encounter insurmountable evidence that the earth is in fact about 4 billion years old, how would you go about it? You can't possibly say "after much experimentation based on the available evidence, and under the scrutiny of peer-review, I have found that the earth is approximately around 4.5 billion years old. BUT --- I still believe it's only 6,000 years old." At that point you're just being dishonest. Either one or the other has to go.

The difference there is that they did not kill people BECAUSE they were atheists, they killed those people because they wanted to be in power and keep in power; compare that to Christians who kill heathens because those people are heathens, plain and simple.

To say they killed those people because they were atheists is like saying Stalin killed people because he was Georgian, or moustached, or that Mao Zedong killed because he was Chinese.
