This issue is making its mark nowadays...maybe the discussion focuses on articles written more happening in CA BON. However, it's been making waves too that other BONs will follow suit soon. To be honest, while USA is in the midst of it great recession and most hospitals now are employing only with BSN degree. Most of those Associate RNs even working for decades are forced to go back to school for a BSN upgrade just to stay in their positions. But sad to say, most of Asso. RNs lost their jobs.
I have a colleague who worked for 20 yrs as LVN, few weeks ago she received a call not to go to work on her shift and she is terminated. I transferred to Northern Ca but i came from the east coast. My employer before, as far as i can remember...long before the recession they have stop accepting LVNs and this was 2003.
Nurse graduates and licensed RNs, what is your position on this? What is the current curriculum now? is it still ASHE? Its time for all of you to lobby to the congress to put back the old time Comprehensive Curriculum where students are exposed to more of clinical setting and skills practice.
