Found a Baby Water Monitor

I found a baby water monitor lizard last night on my driveway, but it seems very ill as it's eyes are closed and has difficulty holding it's head up for more than a few seconds. I expected that it would have died overnight and yet it's still alive. I can't see any obvious signs of injury and I would have thought that a hatchling would be alert and fast-moving so I'm wondering if it was somehow poisoned.... I just don't know what the problem is. Hope it will survive.

^It can barely move to thermo-regulate. It's in a warm place and I have provided some UVB. I'm really baffled about what happened to it and how it ended up on my driveway in the middle of the night. I've found one before during daytime and it was extremely alert and fast. I'm wondering if this guy ate something toxic or maybe bitten by a venomous snake.

I suspect a fractured leg. I've been force-feeding it with crushed superworms and fluid using a syringe and tube donated by a vet and it's much better now. Although still not walking properly the little guy is now alert and active. Hopefully if the progress continues he will be well enough to release in a couple of weeks. I'll know better once he starts taking prey without assistance.

Hmmm well, he kind of looks like a dinosaur so I think I'll call him Barney.
