abnormal reading for CPU 3V, 12V and temperature..

Hi Istoryans,

i just want to ask what could be the problem that causes this alerts from my asus utility....
as what u have seen on the image below, my asus probe detects an abnormality in CPU voltage and temperature..

the temperature on the left side was REALTEMP's reading during my COD MW3 Gameplay with max settings, with my i5 2500k overclocked to 4.3Ghz... CPUID Hardware Monitor's even have higher Temperature reading with a maximum of 63 degrees Celcius (it could have been even higher if i played longer)... I am using an aftermarket cpu cooler thermaltake Frio OCK... could this be dangerous for my CPU? which could lead serious complications and causes it to fail?

look at that temperature reading from my asus probe 267 degrees celcius?? come on tustado na akong CPU ana, fortunately kad**** ra jud cya mga seconds lng..

how about the abnormality on voltages bro??

i tried to stress test my CPU with prime95, realtemp and hardware monitor readings was really high, with a maximum of 73 degrees celcius, it only took around 3 mins then i stop it, because im afraid that my CPU will be burned. ideal for prime95 stress test must be at least 2-4hrs right? but im afraid to do that long because temps are already high..

i tried to overclocked to 4.6Ghz but i got freeze and got BSOD.. does that mean that my system can't sustain at that speed?

anyway, when i played COD MW3 with 4.3Ghz overclocked i got around 15-40 FPS with maximum setting, and im using its integrated graphics only, coz i dont have a dedicated GPU, i am planning to buy this december pa, hopefully prices will drop.

What are your average temps bro?? Our place here is really hot especially from 11AM - 4PM, i wanted to get the ambient temperature here so i can compare but i dont have a thermometer...

Few things id like to stress out:

1. 73C on Prime95 isnt "REALLY" high. Its high but not really. You should try IBT and see it rise a few more celcius..
2. How much vcore are you running at? You may be running at a too high voltage which causes the heat..
3. If not, maybe you should try reseating your proc. Apply just a thin strip (not layer) of a trusted TIM.
4. Dont be afraid to run Prime95 in 2hrs. Your temps wont go that high unless your case fans are not up to the task. Just make sure they can keep the case temp consistent.
5. There are mixed reactions regarding the time to run Prime95. For me 1hr prime 95 + 1hr IBT immediately after is enough..
6. You cant overclock too far while using the integrated video..
7. Do you have those voltage abnormalities while on stock? They maybe program errors and are occassionally like that. Even CPUID HW do those errors. (unless you have generic psu). If not, you may need to increase PLL voltage..

Heres the story behind this dilemma,

few days ago i tried to check my CPU to confirm if a high end card like gtx 670 or 7970 could fit in my casing(Aerocool strike X), problem is the PSU(strike x 600W 80+)cables will maybe block it, because my casing doesn't really have good cable management... supposed to be i will place the cables on its corners as much as possible but the cables are too short, can't reach to the Mobo 8-pin Power Plug, so i decided to just let it go overhead on my MOBO.. then i tried to check my CPU cooler(FRIO OCK) and tried to remove its fans, heatsink not removed then put it back again. I turn it on to see if i haven't done anything wrong and then voila, my asus utility alerts this abnormal temperature, eventhough seconds lng then back to normal na.

Anyway i will buy GPU this december, and im in a dilemma on which to choose between these two cards 670 or 7970... will it fit on my casing? and does my PSU is enough to run it?

Sorry wala nako nakita ang vcore sa taas. For the temps, confirmed gyud that you are running too high of a vcore. I suppose you can try running 4.3ghz @ something like 1.25-1.3v manual not auto..

For the voltages, not sure pero dili kaha natandog (?) lang siguro tong proc/cooler? You should try reseating it. Youd be amazed how many problems are solved by just doing that.

Between 670 and 7970, i cant give an unbiased opinion because im a goblin (green). But your psu can sure handle those cards (if you trust what the specs say which i doubt is 100% true all the time).
