Sorry but this thread is a deliberate setup by the non-catholic christian fundamentalists against the roman catholics..

As an atheist, my view is ALL christian religious denomination are somewhat influenced by Paganism in one way or another in varying degrees. Even the concept of Monotheism and the Doctrine of Trinity originated from Pagan roots..

The Jewish holiday Hanukkah celebrates the Maccabees' re-dedication of the Temple.

And we see Jesus Christ Himself celebrating Hanukkah in John 10:22.

OT: That's the reason why you can never reach a compromise nor a win-win situation with an evangelical or protestant fundamentalists coz they firmly believe that your Book of Maccabees is not inspired by God, hence will never be a part of the Bible..

OnT: I go visit my dad on Nov 1 & 2 not only to visit my dad (which we usually do many times in a year), but as a responsible member of our society, dapat maipakita pud nato sa ato mga family friends sa silingan or kasikbit nga mga luna that we are also taking care of our departed loved ones. Nobody in the Early Church thought the 66-Book Protestant canon was the correct canon of Scripture. So if Protestants can't show why their own canon is right, I don't see how that's a basis for rejecting 2 Maccabees.
