Mandaue proposes P1.7B annual budget

CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City’s proposed annual budget for 2013 is P1,730,556,392 which is higher by P138 million from last year’s P1.6 billion.

In his message, Mayor Jonas Cortes said items such as the 20% development fund, the employee benefits, aid to component barangays, loan amortization, maintenance of city roads and bridges, anti-drug campaign are allotted a fair share in the budget.

Personal services will get P272,910,631; P120.3 million will go to debt servicing; P89.6 million is allotted for the city’s development projects which is not less than 20 percent of the projected share from the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) of P448,394,409.

The 27 barangays in the city is allotted P27 Million, with each to get P1million.

“A major segment in the proposed budget is devoted to the pursuit of goal and objectives to assure delivery of basic services and facilities,” Cortes said. (FREEMAN
