The view that I developed for this thread is relevant. I'm putting out my opinion that I think the featuring of Fr. Skelton (due to his past child molestation conviction) as one of the worship leaders takes some shine off that event. Don't get me wrong. I think Bo's a very charismatic speaker and a great human being. Couldn't he have chosen another priest to lead that prayer rally with him?

There are several types of crimes that anyone has committed which I can look past, but crimes against children is just something I cannot ignore. I'm sorry. And when you consider the harshness that was dealt against those young students and the warm embrace given to a convicted child molester, that's a picture of hypocrisy...because that same forgiving act should've been extended to those STC students. Imagine those students working so hard to get to the last year of high school only to be denied graduation because they essentially were just having fun at the beach. They didn't hurt anybody. So how come no forgiveness here?

    Respect begets respect, I agree.

OK, since this is on Bro. Bo's thread, I will comment less with the STC students' scenario. Some of our friends felt what you've felt, that Fr. Skelton should have not been included in his (Bro. Bo) pool of people to be with him in that activity. But some pointed out some things about Fr. Skelton though I can't verify it, but they said "grabe ka nindot cya mo dala ug prayer, nga daghan ang ma inspire sa iyang paagi sa pag pray, maski gikapoy nah ang mga tao, siya murag wala pa japon gikapoy kung mag lead sa prayer, pero mao sad lagi, na apektuhan ang event tungod sa iyang sitwasyon".

So on my personal assessment, they invited him with the gift of praise and not because of his case. His molestation case was his personal issue, but he had another gift which he could share to other people.

Now to the question why Bro. Bo included him, I am not in the position to answer that, si Bo rah jud ang mka tubag ana and that decision maybe an irony to the decision of STC to their students which any organization can't control (kay tao silang ni decide).

A broomstick just used by a metro-aide is dirty, but that dirty broomstick is capable of cleaning a dirty Luneta Park. No matter how dirty a person is, it does not mean that he/she is not capable of "helping" in cleaning other people's lives....

It depends on the kind of dirt. I can understand an ex-thief whose crime was driven by circumstances. I can understand an ex-rice smuggler whose motive was to profit. I can understand a person who used to lie in his resume because he wanted to get the job he wanted. What I cannot understand is an ex-pedophile. What reason was there to victimize a child? Is that motivation still with Fr. Skelton? Sure he can charm a crowd but so could Hitler.

I'm not saying Bo should remove him from his prayer rallies. I'm just giving my opinion that his inclusion takes some shine off that event. If you don't agree, that's fine. That's all I have to say. I'll let you have the last word on our exchange. Thanks.

My personal opinion on why he did that, is that something negative happened to his life in the past. Because a "hurt" person will continue hurting other people and usually to the people directly or almost always who interacts with them. A "hurt" parent to his/her child, a hurt boss to his secretary, and a priest to an altar boy.... and since this is my opinion I might be completely wrong also....

yeah, i also don't know his (Fr. Skelton) whereabouts right now and if he is still connected to LOJ that I don't know. But as a pedophile, I myself might be judgmental sa iyaha and yet I don't know his reason(s) why iya tong nabuhat, simply because I don't know his past. Your examples of the thief, the rice smuggler, and the job applicant kay gi butang naman ang ilang reasons/past so that's why maka sabot tah....

and moreover, I completely agree with your opinion nga it took some shine off sa event during that KCon 2009 ata? and its up to the organizers kung ila pa bang ipa apil to nga priest.

And this is why I termed it a healthy discussion jud... hehehe
