toryo: she is not a lawyer. but she is a law graduate from usc.

well don't u guys think we need a fresh new face in politics? someone who might be able to have the right qualifications to run the city? if one person can make a lot of difference in a small area...think of the differences they can make given a bigger responsibility. Right?

don't you think we should give out the opportunities for a fresh young and new face in politics? I have always been a firm believer of bringing in the new faces who have proven their integrity and ability to run and the capacity to make a difference?

well to one point, yes, its correct. but tomas is doing good right now. in my own opinion, the only thing nga maka "bad image" usahay ni tomas is ang iyang pgka strikto or sometimes arrogant.... but in fairness, ok pud baya nang mag minaldito ginagmay....

Just a personnal opinion on Tomas...if you are not allied with him,and you do not agree with his views in ways to improve your district, he will make your life a living hell...and I think we see that in the recent events that develop na ang Lahug iya jud gikontrahan because we have a young leader who is not willing to give in and let go of her principles.
Tomas is arrogant,no question about that. Yes he has done good in Cebu, but it seems like he will only provide for those whom he is allied with. Grabe niya gilisud lisud ang mga barangay na dili allied niya which I don't really see fair and I don't believe should be the attitude of a good leader. Unsa man ang kaugmaon sa uban barangay d-i...no one will have a choice but to bow down.

And for the record, I may not be in the Philippines right now, however, I have been actively monitoring the political activities of Cebu. And prior to me leaving the Philippines 3 years ago, I have been active in assisting with visiting the squatters area and assisting in a few barangays...

i don't totally agree with that. lahug, i believe got a number of projects lined-up for them last year and this year. there's so many business establishments in lahug and i doubt it very much tomas would make it hard for business and residents there... although some projects may go through rigid scrutiny cos you're not allied with him, but if it's for the betterment of the city's constituents, it is but ministerial for him to approve such projects... considering it passed thru different departments/heads and council for approval.

but there's a grain of truth to what you're saying... like what happened to talisay pero lain nasad nang istoryaha.

Lahug did get a number of projects but due to the hardwork of MDLS though and through her partnership with Raul Del Mar who has been a very avid supporter of her. And also, through the aids also of the private businesses and the rich Chinese in the area. A lot of her projects were completed with those aid and due to the fact that the rich chinese and rich establishments do support her and trust her considering her being principled and her clean record.

And yes, due to the check and balances, there are different departments that one has to go through to get projects approved, however, being the mayor (and this is reality), you have the power and the say adn the influence to have the projects approved...alas the harsh realities. It is ministerial for him to aprove such projects but if you would dig deeper into the harsh politics of Cebu, you will be given a hard time before the projects "may" push through or be approved.

Don't get me wrong here, I do see that Tom has done some good works, but for me, it seems like those who are allied with him and those who are on his good side will be under his good graces, if you knwo what I mean.

that is what we call, you can never please everyone at the same time. No matter how good you are to your people, there will always be a negative comment on you. suppose letting MDLS run, is ok. but how can we be so sure that the performance of tomas will be surpassed by MDLS? Consider comparing alvin and tomas as mayors of cebu, who performed better?

kani si mary ann i think na most outstanding barangay captain na ni siya before, dunno how many times but i think she really does well as a barangay captain,

as for tommy, he has proven time and time again, both to the supporters and the critics, that he is a good mayor. I will vote for the man.

as for tommy vs marry ann, i think mary ann shud stay as a barangay captain for now, we cant let the momentum of our city's success get interfered, let us pave way for our good leaders to continue the good works they have started.

Runnning 6 years na ko nga out of cebu or the phils.. wala na ko kahibalo who are those promising leaders in the city this time.. but to have new faces may seems a gamble being squared to leaders of proven capabilities. tom has continously proved his worth..
