I don't think there is an issue if our government goes into backdoor talks with other governments, China in this case, lots of countries do that. Governments use backdoor channels to resolve conflicts, and what happens on these conversations are not divulged to the public for national security. As long as it was sanctioned by the government, and the conflict is eventually resolved, then I don't see what's wrong with it. In fact, I see more wrong in what JPE did. Those backdoor channels were a matter of national security and should be confidential, he should not be announcing those in public.

Also, just because JPE said Trillanes had several talks with China, doesn't necessarily mean Trillanes is a traitor. Wala pa gani mo kabalo unsay content ato nga talks. Look at the tensions now, medyo ni kalma na gamay, what if that is part and partial result of those talks?

To me, JPE is the traitor for revealing these. If he had a problem with the backdoor negotiations, then they (the senate) should handle it in-house, and not via a privilege speech where everyone can hear/read/see.

Where did enrile got the transcripts of the conversation between trillanes and chinese envoy? is it another small fat lady gave him the transcript? if he was able to get the transcript maybe he should be the one to tell the public about what the back door meeting was about..
