I started oDesk January of last year. I landed on a job after 3 months of heavy struggle apply2x and guess how much was my first earning., $5. Fixed price pajod. HAHA! Way mas discouraging? Pero the good thing was, I was rated 5 stars which means a plus to my portfolio. From there, I started to apply on a hourly rate na., luckily I got a full time job with 3/hr rate.

Right now I work full time in oDesk and also in Elance. A part from that., I have 2 part time jobs outside for direct clients which means I have 4 jobs. Humbly speaking... I earn not below 50K a month. It feels so great to be earning that big pero to get there, mulatay sa jud ug kalayo ug mu sunggo ug usa ka balde nga dugo kay di jud lalim. Way CHAR. Pero as long as you are dedicated and motivated and knows how to market yourself, then your in the right path. And always remember experience is the best WEAPON.

I have a question to Odeskers....or to anyone doing freelance work. Since this is our thread and it discusses our virtual world of career. We might as well get ourselves acquainted and compare notes....

So to start, here are my questions....

1. Unsay nawong sa inyong work station? (post pics if you want) <----- Although I have 3 laptops, I use one netbook so my files are in one device, with a usb keyboard and mouse para dili kulatado tan awon akong netbook. I use my kitchen table as my work office and I evacuate my virtual office during meal time. hehehe....murag squatters ang show!

2. What is your usual working hours? <----- mine from the time I wake up (noon time) all the way til 3am na. I work in my sleeping clothes at times!

3. Unsay must-have ninyo while working? <----- mine is a pack of cigarettes and lots and lots of coffee!!! and I've been a regular customer of mcdo delivery!

4. For full time freelancers, do you still maintain your SSS, Philhealth, Pag ibig and taxes? <----I still do, but I didn't know being a self employed makes me pay higher.

I have 2. 1 in my room and the other 1 is in the office.. Both desktop para mas malawak ang space.. and a 1 TB external hard drive..

2. What is your usual working hours?
8am-5pm office hours, minsan nakakasingit sa Odesk pag hindi masyado busy.. then sa house 7-10pm or even until 12am if necessary..

3. Unsay must-have ninyo while working?
a lot of water, some peanuts, sometimes coffee pag overtime , and a comfortable chair, i have to be as healthy as possible while working and sitting the whole day.. so every other day I spend 1-2 hours in the gym..

4. For full time freelancers, do you still maintain your SSS, Philhealth, Pag ibig and taxes?
part time lang ang Odesk ko pero kung full time ako eh I'll still maintain those benefits pero SSS and Philhealth lang...
one more advantage in Odesk is you don't have any taxes to pay...

Pwede ra ba nimo ingnon ang imo gi-applyan nga naa ra ka sa balay katrabaho, pero sa internet cafe diay? Kay wa pa man gud ko computer sa balay.

^^ pwde ra sa internet cafe pero daghan kaayo downsides... Samok, di ka mka focus, security sa imo files og account at risk. palit nalang 2nd hand na pc barato raman na. its a good investment kung mg plan kag freelancing.
