I have come across some discussions that morality should be relative.
When we say RELATIVE morality, morality depends on the PREFERENCE of the person.
Whereas, those who claim that morality is ABSOLUTE, he has to abide by NON-NEGOTIABLE rules of established morality.
Christians and Jews, for example, are bound to follow an absolute morality as contained in the 10 Commandments.
Jesus affirmed this by commanding love of God (contained in the first two commandments) and love of our neighbor (the rest of the eight commandments) to his apostles in the New Testament.
Moral relativists, for example are obliged to tolerate opinions that are contradictory. In such cases, moral relativists are bound to respect that NAZIS are being moral when they killed Jews since relativism assert individual/cultural rights over the rights of others. Moral relativism could justify Muslim attacks of Christians in Sudan and Nigeria. Any criticisms of these attacks they would offend the personal/doctrinal opinions of these Muslims.
These are products of moral relativism:
1: Encouragement of slavery in the United States, because a certain religious sect has found some CONVENIENCE in it
2: Massacre of the Jews during world war 2, because a certain group of people THINK it its morally right to do so
3: (Abortion) Massacre of the unborn, as perpetuated by the feminist pro-choice agenda. Criticizing abortion would offend the "RIGHTS" of these women.
