as i predicated, both were just playing the game of shakedown
one of them HAD to give way sooner or later to pursue both parties interests, it just happened that it came sooner.
Osmeña reiterated that he would rather not be reelected as mayor if the lot swap does not push through, as there will be some 2,725 families that will be displaced.
"I don't want to be mayor under those circumstances. You know why? Because insurgency will set in. It's not because my image is at stake. We're talking about chaos, the Sparrow Unit, rebels here," he told reporters.
“We should learn from the lesson of our past. Now you’re going to evict 5,000 families? You think I still want to be mayor? Ayaw na lang. It’s the bloody truth, I wouldn’t want to be mayor in that situation,” he said.

this is what I admire most with TOMAS..making his stand clear that he's not merely politicking on this issue!!!
I also agree with Tomas. Gubot pas lukot tinuo-ra. But we must also read between the lines of Gwen's message. Sa akong panabot the 30 day deadline, di man cguro na nga dunganon nimo tanan ug papahawa. You have to do it in a very controlled manner. Capitol people have brains as well. Most likely katong mga wala gyud pa kabayad bisag usa ka dako, maoy unahon. Tomas probably when he said it, was quite alarming kay election is coming and if you want to stir the public's concern on peace and order. You have to sound the horn early so everybody feels your presence. See I'm still in command so back off. Ingon ana ra nang mga politician. Ug willing cyang mapilde then so be it- iyaha sad na.Originally Posted by tolstoi

First... I would admit to the public that, yes, Tomas was right in his suspicions that the heart of the matter of this land swap deal is my interest to have the province own a portion of SRP. Forget about that "hurt" feelings as reported by the media. I was never hurt. I'm a politician. I changed my mind because the idea of owning some portions of SRP is too hard to ignore. I realized it's market potential 10 years from now. Repeat 10 years from now.
If I were Tomas...
See? I could never be wrong. But that's fine. You want a piece of SRP? Fine again. Sakyan taka Day. Sabot lang ta daan. The council trusted me so much for this so sabot lang ta daan. Value-for-value man kaha imong tuyo, we can probably arrive at a compromise. You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. But we are doing it the legal way. Karon, we can give you a part of SRP pero condition lang nga the moment ma inyo na gani, magbutang ta ug timetable nga inyo gyud dayon nga develop-pon aron makasapi sad ang city hall sa mga taxes ug services. di nimo ma meet ang terms sa atong atong sabot, balik namo ang property by default. As simple as that.
Daghan man kaha mo kuarta -2B man kaha so maka, maka invest dayon mo. You win, we win. We both win.
Pero. Dako ning pero ha... Day Gwen.
To TOMAS Osmena:
You DID the RIGHT THING.
INSIST on the FIRST LAND SWAP deal...
Let GWEN Close all the ROADS she wants or EVICT all the goverment agencies she wants...
Anyway the people will be ANGRY with HER (Tantrums) not with You....
TOMAS OSMEñA FOR GOVERNOR NEXT 2010 ELECTION!!!!
On the contrary, most of the people who will vote for Gwen are from the provinces. The coming elections has less impact on Gwen for these so called squatters in terms of politics. Tomas might get the brunt of this people for not doing any "compromise" with the Capitol people for a win-win deal and Tomas should be aware of the impending backlash from these squatters-constituents. Originally Posted by Zirv
Why would there be a backlash against TOmmy.... Its Gwen who is EVICTING them.... To tell you frankly most of those people living in Barangay Luz are not from CEBU CITY... MOST OF THEM are just WORKING in CEBU CITY... (another FAILURE of GOV. GARCIA who hasn't PROMOTED the PROVINCE to INVESTORS). Balamban was LITO Osmena's ACHIEVEMENT....Originally Posted by budmendz

On the CONTRARY you TELL GWEN GARCIA..... The PEOPLE living in Barangay LUZ have RELATIVES in the Municipalities of CEBU.... and THEY can INFLUENCE their RELATIVES and tell their relatives who is DISRUPTING their LIVES...
TOmas KNOWS this..... That is why the CAPITOL is at a disadvantage....
Tomas looks good for defending the Squatters... like RObbin hood
Capitol's image needs improvement.... it looks like the GRINCH
And maybe come Holy Week when they are going back to the provinces to influence their relatives, they may find out nga na evict na diay sila inig balik nila. Originally Posted by Zirv
ang PASABOT..... They are people squatting there.... ASIDE from the SQUATTERS there are WORKERS who JUST RENT a BEDSPACE or ROOM there.... and THEY GO HOME to VARIOUS MUNICIPALITIES of CEBU.... from OSLOB to DAAN BANTAYAN...Originally Posted by budmendz
Clearly CAPITOL has underestimated that....
Even the Squatters themselves have RELATIVES in the VARIOUS MUNICIPALITIES of CEBU....
if the CAPITOL wants to lose VOTES.......
