Default How to RMA your harddisk to Singapore

Since I don't think many people know this. You can rma your defective or failing harddisk directly to seagate, etc and get a new or rma'd(certified repaired) unit for free. You only need to pay the shipping of 150pesos via lbc to paranaque, manila. Seagate will ship it directly to you via UPS for free. I've done this 4 times already.
I think many sellers here are actually selling RMA'd units as brand new units. Don't give out the serial number or part/model number to anyone.

    How to (a Step-by-step Guide) : Seagate/Maxtor/Samsung Warranty
    1. Go to the link below to validate/check if your defective Seagate/Maxtor/Samsung is still in-warranty:

    Warranty Validation

Listed below are the possible results of the warranty information of your drive:

In-Warranty - this means that your drive is within the warranty period/date indicated and can be returned to Seagate for replacement.
Contact Repair - this means that your drive is out of warranty or warranty already expired.
Contact Point of Purchase - this means that your drive is a system component and was originally sold to a system manufacturer. It is part of a branded CPU unit sold by IBM, Compaq, HP, etc. Contact the system manufacturer or the place of purchase/vendor for warranty service.
Exchange - this means that your drive is already a replacement unit but still is within the warranty period/date indicated and can be returned to Seagate for replacement.

    2. If you have determined that your drive is in-warranty, click the Create RMA button to create an RMA Request for your drive.

    3. Fill-up all the necessary information like your shipping details. Choose UPS SCS (Philippines), Inc. when selecting the location to ship your defective product.

FYI: UPS SCS is not Seagate, UPS SCS is the local forwarder contracted by Seagate to receive your defective harddrive and deliver the replacement to you free of charge.

    4. After finishing the RMA request form, you will immediately receive an email regarding the request and the corresponding Seagate Order Number.

    5. Printout the RMA form. Include it together with your defective harddrive when sending it to UPS. You can personally hard-carry it to them or have it shipped for convenience via local courier like Air21, LBC, etc. Shipping will depend on your location and courier rates but usually it will cost you around P80 to P200. Use the address format below:

    ATTN: RMA # <your Seagate Order Number>

    ADDRESS:
    UPS SCS (Philippines), Inc
    Queensway Avenue,
    Pascor Drive Ext,
    Paranaque City,
    Philippines, 1700

    6. You can pack your defective harddrive with bubble-wrap plastic, foam or even box it. The important thing is it will not get damaged during transit to UPS because once they see any physical damage even its not your fault, its warranty is voided. Once UPS receives it, they will repack it together with other defective drives before they ship it altogether to Seagate.

    7. You will receive an Receipt Acknowledgement email from Seagate once they have received your defective harddrive.

    8. You can check the status of your RMA via the link below:

    <click here for link>

    9. You will again receive a Ship Advice email from Seagate to inform you that the replacement drive is already shipped. Included in the email is the UPS tracking number of the shipment. You can track it online via the ups.com website. Shipping of the replacement to you is free of charge.

Important Note: If you received your tracking # today via email, please wait for the next working day to start tracking your item to allow enough time for their database to be updated.

    FAQ:
    Q. How long will my replacement arrive?
    A. 3-7 days to 2 weeks, depending on your location and the shipping load of the courier so just be patient and track your replacement.

    Q. What kind of drive will I receive to replace my returned unit?
    A. Usually, you will receive a Certified Repaired Harddrive. But sometimes if you get lucky, you will receive a brand new one or an upgraded capacity or both.

    Q. What is an upgrade?
    A. When returning products to Seagate, your product may qualify for an optional higher capacity upgrade. I believe this is possible when there are no stocks available for replacement of the same capacity model you have sent so Seagate will send you the next smallest larger capacity model available (you sent a defective 40gb but no 40gb replacements available so Seagate will send you a 60gb or 80gb).

    Q. How long is the limited warranty for the replacement drive?
    A. The remainder of the original limited warranty or 90 days, whichever is longer. Sometimes the replacement have a longer warranty period than the original drive like one year longer.

    Q. My replacement item is damaged or defective, what should I do?
    A. Simply return it again to Seagate.

    Q. I accidentally selected Singapore instead of UPS SCS when selecting the location to ship the product... how can I correct this mistake?
    A. You don't have to do anything, just bring/ship your defective Seagate/Maxtor/Samsung harddrive to UPS SCS and they will still process it as normal.

    Q. Who pays for shipping returns?
    A. Shipping of the replacement harddrive to you is free of charge.

    Q. How much is the total cost for RMA-ing in-warranty drives?
    A. Its free. You only need to pay if you opted to have your defective harddrive shipped to UPS SCS.

    Q. Do I need to follow the Seagate Return Packing and Shipping Information?
    A. Only if you are shipping your defective harddrive directly to Seagate Singapore. However, if you are shipping to UPS SCS, you can pack your defective harddrive with bubble-wrap plastic, foam or even box it. The important thing is it will not get damaged during transit to UPS because once they see any physical damage even its not your fault, its warranty is voided. Once UPS receives it, they will repack it together with other defective drives before they ship it altogether to Seagate.

    Q. What should I ship back to Seagate?
    A. For external harddrives, shipping the external drive and the power adapter (if there is any). Do not ship the interface cables (USB, firewire, etc), Product Literature and Manuals, Software (CD) or the Drive Stand.

For internal harddrives, just ship the DRIVE ONLY.

    Q. I cannot create an RMA Request for my defective drive because its already included in an Open Case of RMA.
    A. It only means that someone else already created an RMA request of your drive. You need to have the previous RMA Request cancelled. Take a clear and close-up picture of your harddrive where the serial number is easily readable then attach it and send an email case via the link below requesting a cancellation of the previous RMA request:

    http://support2.seagate.com/

    Q. Can I send my defective Maxtor and Samsung hardrive to Seagate for replacement?
    A. Seagate already bought Maxtor and Samsung harddrive business so yes.

    Q. There is no Create RMA button/link? I cannot see the Create RMA button/link?
    A. Try it with another browser? If still no Create RMA button link, try to use another computer. If still no Create RMA button link, try to use another Internet connection. If still no Create RMA button link, try is on a weekday. If still no Create RMA button link, i give up!

    Cancellation of RMA Request:

To cancel an RMA Request, send an email case via the link below:

    Should be a sticky topic.

Even if the 1 year shop warranty is expired you can still avail of the seagate 2-3 year warranty directly.

Mine usually takes 4 days if you send it by lbc before the cutoff time 2pm. lbc is really fast.
I've heard some people get brand new upgraded harddisk when the model is phased out for your broken unit. They said you can get 500gb hdd sometimes if you sent an 80 or 250gb hdd.
But so far I haven't been lucky and only got certified repaired(1 2tb hdd, 2 1tb hdd) or brand new same model hdd(1 external).

daghan man pud tapolan dire taga-istorya mag-rma, nakasugat nako ana nga kahibaw sila how to rma but still adto japon sila sa option nga swap na lang

and some owners of guba, they will registered for rma then ilang ibaligya kay tapolan pa-rma or isend and still an easy task for us

nice link TS - contributor man sad ko didto ^:^

    good for other ni
