    Default The "Baristas" or Bartenders

To all the Baristas or Bartenders out there, and to those whose passion is to serve those chilled or warm delicious and tantalizing drinks. I juz noticed that there's no topic here regarding this line of work, and since I need info about it, Ill juz be setting it up. My brother-in-law is a Barista for Bo's but they're located in the province. His planning to move here in Cebu, though he has a call center experience, he would like to pursue in being a Barista. If there are any members here with this line of work, please share some infos and tips on the best cafes in the city to work with, and some info regarding the pay and where and how to apply would also be greatly appreciated.

Hi! I know a lot of people who have worked in Starbucks branches all over Cebu. Although I could not verify how much salary they are receiving, it might be worthy to note that it's a good company.coffee shop to work for. This is especially true if your bro-in-law has plans to go out of the country; Starbucks is an international name, and thus, having been employed there would look good on any resume for overseas-bound applicants.

Infact, I know of several OFW agencies in Manila who only hire baristas (for abroad) who have worked for "top-of-the-line and worldclass coffeeshops" (their words, not mine). Plus, the company that operates Starbucks Philippines is Rustan Coffee Corporation, they treat their employees well. They're part of a mother company who is also the owner of Rustan's chain of upscale boutiques and several high-end foreign brands shops like Marks and Spencer, Calvin Klein, Nine West, etc..

This being said, you might want to tell your bro-in-law to submit an application to any of the Starbucks stores in Cebu. Also, here are some of the coffeeshops your bayaw can send his resume to: Figaro (in IT Park), Seattle's Best (in Ayala's The Terraces, lower ground floor) and Tinderbox (in Banilad), which is primarily a fine restaurant that also serves coffee. Or he can have himself transferred to one of the Bo's branches here. I like Bo's because it's a Cebuano brand, and their baristas are also accomodating. But I love Starbucks more, hehehe.

    I hope this helps.
