    Default accidental new pet?

Just this morning, when checking out my birds, my finches. Was surprised that one cage, my finch was missing. So I thought it might have died or what. There was no body on the cage, so I check the bird house. I saw something rubbery and stripe. Took a closer look and waaahhh! It's a snake! It has swallowed my finch.. hibernating after its meal.

Was really surprised how the snake was able to get unto the cage as the cages are hanging in the ceiling (ng ala spiderman/cliffhanger siguro from the airvents of the ceiling outside ang snake). There was a closer cage a foot or so away from the air vents, pero kadto pa jud layo ang gi tripingan ni snake.. haissstt..

They used to have partners, they were a couple. Pero weeks passed by. All the females died first. A mysterious death. My theory was maybe the male went berserk and killed their partners at night as at times I can hear struggle and panic at nights on the bird cages (must have been the snake stalking them all along- able to bite but not get inside the cage as the partner would defend or shove the snake away) But this time they are all alone on the cage. No partner to help defend. The snake was successful this time..

Now, what to do with that fat snake hibernating inside the bird house/cage??

    RIP finch..

p.s. my younger sister won't even dare glance at the snake. she pity my birdy.. tsk tsk tsk..

Only one thing to do with the snake get it and throw it away in a place that it could never come back or better yet kill it instead

post pictures of the snake bro... i guess its a rat snake that ate your finch...
rat snakes are good in finding their way inside bird cages and mice cages...
ako btw mga mice, maka sulod jud ang rat snake bsag close au...i can't even trace where they pass...
i rather have a cat around my mice or birds bsta lng safe sa snakes...

kung striped then it could be a mangrove snake...
mildly venomous therefore not advisable to handle... call your local snake expert sa barangay and have him remove the snake for you... i'm sure naa jud na kada barangay kana kaantigo manakop og bitin... diri sa amo iya pangalan kai si diablo... maayo kaayo muhandle og snakes pero mahadlok og BAKI, true story... hahaha!

its still inside the bird house, hibernating. i guess it would take weeks before it would start to move.. ngpahilis pa..lolz

our place is along a hillside, its a mini jungle around.. a few months ago, i saw a baby snake curling up under a leaf at the backyard. was still as thin as a big bbq stick. eventually just set it free after a day in the empty aquarium. maybe its the same snake going back to where it was born.. now 4-6x larger..

i think killing it is not an option. they also serve a purpose in our ecosystem.. eating pests like rats.. unluckily this time, they make a meal of my pet finch.. i guess the chirping/noise of the finches also attracts unwanted guests..

rat snake ra guro to bro.. my mistake about the stripes, it was more likely the belly scales that I saw at first glance.. lolz.. kuyaw na imo snake sa photo.. surely poisonous jud na kay naa bright colors.. warning sign..

no need to capture it.,its inside the bird cage man inside the bird house. and since it has ballooned, surely it can't get out of the bird cage as before sneaking inside the cage.

    lolz sa imo true story..haha!
