OT: To change poeple's mind regarding the Pacific war. This is a huge deference, a disrespect to American war veterans who left their wives and family to fight for the Philippines. And especially to my Granddad who left the US and dodge bullets to defend this archipelago.

I do agree that General MacArthur wasn't the best or a brilliant general compared to Chester Nimitz, who was the real brain behind the victory in the Pacific. But he did made a good decision to declare Manila as an open city, allow the Japanese to establish occupation, and lessen the amount of casualties to both Filipino/ American soldiers by drawing back south to Australia, while coordinating with the Guerilla forces in the Philippines to weaken the Japs.

You can call this abandonement, but both Filipino and American officials didn't have any options, this is the only way to reduce bloodshed. You cannot jump into an enemy's midbase, and establish post. You need to start from one side and start your way to it's heartland, (ask any war strategist).
After Pearl Harbor the United States Pacific Fleet was greatly crippled, and for the first 6 months or so the Allies suffered defeat after defeat in the Pacific.

The only way to defeat Japan was to start from south, destroy Japanese airfields, cut their supply lines reinforcements, and carve upwards Island by island.

And regarding your statement about rape, death, domination... For zeus' thundering butthole, this is World war 2. All military occupations create this tragedy.
Soviet rape on Berlin, The French REsistance, Four day of Naples, Manchuria, all of them. This is inevitable. So you blame the Americans on why our women got raped by the Japs?

Man, do you even read history books? I assume you do not.

naa bay kawatan nga mo angkon? War is deception. it woudnt matter if they declare or not. As long as they see holes in our country, they would see it as a weakness. And once weakness is spotted, they are ready to plant the virus. Massive annihilation cant get in coz it will provoke the whole UN nation.....

You actually made my argument. I mean no offense to anyone here but to heavily rely on the US and talking about war. Isn't it better to avoid massive conflict especially when weapons available now can wipe out cities at a time? My point is that never trust another country when it comes to policy making as they put their interest first before others. You may view the US as the fearless protector of the world, but let reality sink in that their individual soldiers maybe honorable but their system may not be as honorable.

And just to heat up the conversation a little bit, didn't the allied force ask the US to assist them during the start of the WWII? They sent weapons, goods, artillery and such but only committed to the war when the Harbor was attacked. Neutrality Act of 1930s.

So, you may say that you read a lot of history books but don't try to make an argument on incomplete data.

    @shal213:

Why UN didn’t stop Iraq and Afghanistan from US invasion? First, America is one of the big members of the UN Security Council, which is composed of great powers and the victors of WWII. Second, America is fighting for terrorism in which those countries have a direct involvement with terror networks. Pakistan is next. Try to check this out - Georgia
“Rumors are just so old fashioned”. What if this is true? I do believe there are old fashioned ways that are still effective in modern times. “Old school”.

I think you will need to read more history books. I have never heard Americans left us especially during WWII. Japanese that time was well equipped which the Americans stands off guard. Gen. MacArthur left the Philippines for Australia with reasons where they transferred the headquarters but at the expense of Gen. Jonathan Wainwright which later surrender to Japan Empire. But that was not the end, Gen. MacArthur had promised to return and made Manila an Open City just to prevent Japanese atrocities. That was a good intentions. In 1945, MacArthur and its contingent attack Philippines from Japan. American troops in the Visayas had easily swept all Japanese garrison as compared in Luzon. This was also with the help of Filipino guerrillas (or the American success in the Philippines was with the help of our grandfather and father who fought for freedom). America didn't actually abandoned us during WWII, they came back for us. Don't twist the history.

In WWI, though they wouldn't see any combat - Military history of Asian Americans - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

In Vietnam, It was Pres. Nixon's plan, Nixon Doctrine or a policy known as "Vietnamization policy" which is also the same doctrine as Pres. Kennedy. "To fight their own war". Secretary of Defense James R. Schlesinger stated that he would recommend resumption of U.S. bombing in North Vietnam if North Vietnam launched a major offensive against South Vietnam. On 4 June 1973, the U.S. Senate passed the Case-Church Amendment to prohibit such intervention. Plus the American public and the whole world population doesn't support fully to the US intervention in Vietnam. In this case, how could they win this war while losing moral support? You cannot win the war without public support. Commies in those times talked sugar coated propaganda that convince ordinary people especially the peasant which they don’t have proper education. Professionals and gov’t employees and officials have been executed by the commies because this kind of people knows what is wrong or right though there were no data on how many professional are available in the 50’s to 70’s.(Wikipedia)

Sounds like your inclination to Chinese. Though you said, "you do not support China nor anti-patriotic". Looks like a sugar coated statement.

"generalization again. Let me rephrase a previous post in this thread; "they can't even stake their claim towards Taiwan or Chinese Taipei". I would love to reply to this but please cite arguments that can be discussed not opinion based on ignorance."

Do you think there is no possibilities or it won't happen, China nowadays are building military hardware and weapons. They even bought the old Varyag class aircraft carrier from Russia and they said for experimentation purposes only. Experimentation or making duplicates? Check the SU-27 Flanker of Russia, with their Shenyang J-11. They even sent a space craft with the first Chinese woman astronaut. They are also building or strengthening there naval capabilities which include stealth submarines. And this opinion is based on ignorance? I don't think so. There is a possibilities that China will take at all cost the Taiwan and some other neighboring countries that offers rich resources. This is one of the reason US re focus its military armada if I'm not mistaken, 70% of its naval power in Asia. Once again, IGNORANCE? Or you might thinking that China is limited and can't do anything. Check their military spending...the same thing with N. Korea.
    What happened to Tibet?

I don't have any insight on the policy making of the United States right now, do you? Why don't you share it?

America's lapdog? Not me.. It's the Philippines, due to its long time ally with America, maybe. How about Singapore, Taiwan Saudi Arabia, Britain, Canada, are they also be considered America's lapdog? How about Tibet?, N. Korea?, Are they a Chinese lap dog?
