Most durable and long lasting External hard drive?

Hi guys!

I'm planning to buy an external hard drive soon because I'm running out of space. I need recommendations. I need the external hard drive to be:

- Very durable. Kanang dili basta2x maguba just because na knock over or ga vibrate or something (naa man gud mi pets, basin mahilabtan without us knowing)
- Long lasting. I need my data storage to last for YEARS
- Not necessarily portable. Pwede raman tambay sa balay. USB or Adapter powered...which ever is better.

please note that I own a laptop which runs on Windows 7.

Any brands that you can recommend? I need space to store my movies, games, and graphic design works. Thanks much!

Anyway, ambot og naa bay available nga ruggedized external HDD diri sa atoa but for your needs, any Seagate, WD, and maybe Buffalo should suffice to your needs... Botange nalang og kanang murag rubber protector sa mga cellphone naa man guro mo sakar ana...

+1 for SSD if you have money to burn for storage ra man nah sah? a cheaper alternative you can get a docking station then buy an internal hard disk (it's cheaper) then get the casing storage for the internal hard disk... most wedding photographers( I know) are using this system

your asking for an imaginary external hdd ts, hehe since mechanical ang hdd it is expected to fail at some point of its life, but the trick there is to eliminate human factor so proper handling and usage ra kailangan, no such thing as durable if dagmalan ang tag-iya.

Which one is more durable and lasts longer?

Portable USB Powered External Hard drive?

or

Stationary Adapter Powered External Hard drive? (not sure if it's the right term)

Also, would you recommend buying second hand of any of these items or preferred jud ang brand new?

for mobile: SSD 128GB or higher during shoot events | presentation

then

for stationary: SEAGATE + USB Enclosure << i prefer this setup as anytime the USB cable | Enclosure dies, just buy new one and assemble it again.. ( which u can not do to almost all OEM External Drives )

i won't advise Bare internal drive + Docking Station, it will die sooner because of static | electromagnetic pulses

put bare drive internally.

TIP: DO NOT BEND USB CABLES, roll it.


expense will not exist when all your data | pictures | works are gone due to dead external drive.

u will exchange your laptop just to recover it back..

ssd for storage like store old files and dig them up after 1 month or use them every other day/ every week? if your only gonna store old files thats occupying your current hdd then any 1tb is good enough. its not worth getting a long lasting ssd and barely even using its full performance capacity (tambay mode lng). dont get me wrong, ssd's are the best performing storage media in the market but it costs a premium. if you have expendable funds then get an ssd but to be practical i would advice any decent 1tb, its good enough.
