true. it is lisod but it is important that we do not deceive our kids. when my son, who was then 7, asked the same question as to how babies are made, i prayed for wisdom (as in!) and then i gave him a matter-of-fact-no-malice-NON-graphic answer.
i do not know how you can extricate yourselves from the drawing reasoning that your sister gave but my answer was this:
when a man and a woman get married, they spend "special time" with each other. during this special time they share a precious bond that produces a child. (illustrate ako with my fingers forming a ball that the daddy's cell and the mommy's cell form two halves of a whole ---and that became the baby)
by the way... by this time my son already has ideas about cells such as the white blood cells are the soldiers of the body, etc etc. often times it is because we were not taught ourselves by our parents that we get caught flat-footed when the time comes that we get asked by our kids.
the moms that followed my advice --- they said that the kid just said... "oh, okay. thanks!" and did not even bother to ask what happens during the special time. hahahahahaha. we usually over-complicate things. kids just need to know. now if my son had asked what happens during the "special time," my answer would be... ask me that question when you are 10 and i promise i will answer you. bwahahahahaha.
wait till he/she asks you.... mama, what is rape? waaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh! that is now another story. lol
good luck!
