    Default AHCI mode

    Hello mga PC GURUs here...

    I was trying to have my HDD run on AHCI mode.. I also downloaded drivers.. but everytime I tried to install it... mo prompt man dayon nga need daw ug catalyst e-install which I already had kay ATI baya akong card and I always have the latest one... I googled for answers a lot of times before pero mao raman gihapon.. wa may klaro... I hope there's someone here who tried the actual AHCI mode..

    By the way mao ni akong board ug HDD:

    ASRock 990FX Extreme 4
    WD 500gb Caviar Blue SATA III 6Gb/s

    Basin dili supported sa akong components bah.. if so, is there somewhere to go around it?

    I was also thinking if naa bay speed improvement pud if Im running on AHCI mode than on Native IDE...? Is there a difference? Kay murag gisayangan ko sa akong SATA 3 nga HDD nga parihas rag speed sa akong SATA II HDDs inig Windows Experience Index nako..

    Thanks daan!! ^_^

    any spindle-based HDD will always get a 5.9 WEI bisan unsa pa nga config...

    SATA2 and SATA3 = no difference if you are using a mechanical hard drive.

    SATA1 = 1.5Gps (187MB/s)
    SATA2 = 3Gbps (375MB/s)
    SATA3 = 6Gps (750MB/s)

    Average 7200RPM hard drives can only do read/write 70-150MB/s. So even if you have the old SATA1, your drive can still work to its maximum transfer rate.

    SATA2 and SATA3 upgrades works well with SSD drives. Average of 180-500MB/s.

    pakapin: If anybody here naka gamit ug old ATA133 drives (before SATA). ATA 133 = 133MB/s. Even sa modern hard drives, 133MB/s is still high.
