because this is still a predominantly christian nation, people would always quote the bible and insist that marriage is a god-ordained institution.

so it was interesting for me to hear a non-christian declare that marriage is just a human institution and being that it is prone to corruption and change.

and so here we are, a society that is constantly evolving. when was it when people thought blacks should be slaves? that non-christians should be persecuted? when women's feet should be bound?

society is changing and the resistance is just all too normal for any transition to the new. i see a future of more tolerance to same-*** partnerships, even same-*** marriage. when that brings tolerance and respect in society then we shall all be proud. someday.
