How is any of your opinions connected to rice farm lease high_heels when you are not the owner of those lands? No matter how many times you repeat "our land" the land will never belong to you unless you buy it. So my suggestion to you if you really don't want these lands leased to the Arabs, you should buy the land from the farmers then you can do whatever the hell you want with it. Until such time, I'm sure the farmers would appreciate it if you just keep quiet and not tell them what to do with their land...![]()
then you are narrow minded then! what makes you so sure that this pushes through? Perhaps you are ignorant on the current agricultural concerns of our country that you can easily agree to a long term land lease. Which by the way, will only make us look stupid as a rice growing country. Do we grow the rice in this proposal? No! What the proposal means is, they will grow their rice into our VERY OWN LAND. Sounds stupid right? And I would say that it is as stupid as your reasons...

if we lease our lands to them, the money generated from that lease is then used to import rice, since all the produce of that land would go directly to saudi, its just like selling the hen to buy eggs.. hhhmm something's really wrong here.
@ high_heels It doesn't matter what you or I think. If you call following the laws and respecting property rights narrow minded, then you got a lot of growing up to do. You need to separate what you think is best for the farmers, from their rights as owners to do what they want with the land. I never said I'm sure if this pushes through, the only people who can be sure are the owners.
And look the issue of rice prices is completely separate from this issue. As free people with individual rights, we aren't obligated to do what is best for our country in exercising our rights. If the farmers wanna raise pigs in that farm instead of grow rice, wala kai mahimo ana bro.. kai ngano.. ilaha man ang yuta dili man imo.
@bad_juju: There's nothing wrong there. The owners decide whether they want chickens or eggs, not you or me.
i will not keep quiet for you! i will shut my mouth if someone here can actually prove to me the greater advantage of "contract farming" compared to nurturing our very own needs in the agricultural sector. Get back to me with your validation!
why should i buy these lands from the farmers? its their land and they wouldnt be farmers if they just preferred to be land lords sitting their ass off and receiving peanuts for rent. Dugh! as what the previous poster here said "you are gullible"
nindot unta pero sa ingon na 200,000? hectare pa jud its like occupying the whole d*mn city grabe murag dakong binuang paminawn![]()
or better yet, do your research about our rice industry and maybe you will be enlightened! or if not, hopeless case na gyud diay ka...
