The Philippines do not have to purchase any of those. The way i look at this situation, the U.S. and the Philippines will forge again an agreement to bring the U.S forces back to the Phil.. American interest and investments not only in the Philippines but in other Asian countries are just too huge that U.S. will do everything to protect them, and one of which is to protect and Philippines and her sea lanes.. The Philippines had played a vital role during the Pacific war and the U.S knew this, so in whatever means, the U.S will have to see to it she could keep the Philippines within her sphere of influence, otherwise, China will gain all the profits and pose a threat to the U.S.'s economic, political, and military dominance.
