hmmmm..... i had a bad feeling that this will turned into a fantasy thread, 48 F16?, purdoy pinas ana, ngiga ni diretso man MRF wala na moa agi ug Interim Fighter... if dili ang US mugasto sa operation sa 48 F16, those 48 birds would be the most expensive paper this govt ever had...

consider this (F16 example) -
1) Training for ground personnel and pilot
2) Fuel consumption per flight hour
3) Ammunition

sum all of this multiply it by 48

we need to modernize our AFP but atleast in a realistic way nga dili ma bankrupt ang govt... remember and budget sa every year are divided to other services... im not being pessimistic im being optimistic but i keep my feet on the ground!!!

pareha ra na sauna during marcos it was uncle sam who is paying the cost of operation sa ato tanan aircraft!!

F16 cost per flight hour is between $3,600 to $9,000

let say 3 F16 doing a patrol on our territorial water for 3 hours

xrate is $1.00 USD = 42.3200 PHP as of this moment

let say flight per hour is $4,000 so if we convert it into peso it will be 169,280.00 PhP

169,280.00 Php x 3 F16 = 507, 840 Php unya affected pa jud sa rise fuel prices.. take note wala pa na gi calculate for 3 hours

507, 840 Php x 3 hour patrol = 1,523,520 Php

correct me sa akong calculations if im wrong

This is what the country needs to establish a credible defense according to CNAS. It doesn't necessarily mean that our government can afford or will have budget to buy and maintain these assets in the near future.

I know. It might sound a bit much but the idea stands. The difference this time they say is that America "now share a real interest in the success of the AFP modernization". Sounds reasonable considering the alternative.

Uncle Sam wants us to "invest".. ayaw nalang paglaom.. Maulaw pud ta sige salig ug "donation" oi.. gamay tuod ato budget pero dapat pud tang maningkamot di lang sige salig ug donation. This kind of attitude really makes me sick and we should get rid of it if we want our country to stop sinking further down the bottom.

I hope this idea would come true because the Philippines greatly needs these vehicles and weapons. But I don't think we would be seeing this type of weaponry in our arsenal anytime soon due to the current state that our country is in and the continuing problem which is the corruption of our officials will always prevent us to pursue this military modernazation.

I think the possibility of a war is big so this is why they need to "rushly" buy at least 48 F-16 and the other weapons. It is like saying we don't have options regardless of people's opinion..
