    Default Life After Basketball

Shaq says call him Dr. O'Neal now

After reading this article, a thought came into my mind about making a thread of former basketball players and their lives now, or for those who are long gone already, the lives they had lived after basketball.

Using the search tool, the closest threads I could find are:

    https://www.istorya.net/forums/basket...stories-5.html
    https://www.istorya.net/forums/basket...ey-now-73.html

I think it would be great for these two threads to be merged with this thread. Mods, please?

This thread serves as inspiration, motivation and learning from the mistakes and achievements of our IDOLS.

Mods, if the topic does not fit on this forum, please transfer. Thanks!

Bill Bradley - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

He was a two-time NBA champ with ten years experience as a pro player for Knicks. Retiring in 1977, he ran for a seat in the United States Senate the following year, from his adopted home state of New Jersey. He was re-elected in 1984 and 1990, left the Senate in 1997, and was an unsuccessful candidate for the 2000 Democratic presidential nomination.

Bradley is the author of six non-fiction books, most recently The New American Story, and hosts a weekly radio show, American Voices, on Sirius Satellite Radio. He is a corporate director of Starbucks and a partner at investment bank Allen & Company in New York City.

Bob Cousy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This man saved the NBA during its infancy stage. When I say "saved", I mean literally saved this league we have come to love today.

The words of Bill Reynolds, award-winning sports columnist and book author of Cousy, says likewise, "There were some who even said he (Cousy) had saved the young league in those early years, that without Bob Cousy the NBA never would have survived."

As avid fans of NBA today, we owe this man a lot. We could never thank him enough.

Today, "he is part of the current Boston Celtics Staff Directory. He joins with Fox Sports Net New England broadcast partners Mike Gorman and Tom Heinsohn for about a dozen Celtics telecasts per year." Where Are They Now? - Bob Cousy | Celtics.com - The official website of the Boston Celtics

    A true blue Celtic indeed!

Arne Duncan is the first Cabinet member who has earned a living playing and coaching basketball. Standing six feet, five inches, Duncan was co-captain of Harvard’s basketball team and was named a first team Academic All-American. He had dreams of playing in the NBA and received a tryout with the Boston Celtics. After failing to land a spot with the Celtics, Duncan played professional basketball in Australia from 1987-1991 with the Eastside Melbourne Spectres, the Launceston Ocelots and the Devonport Warriors, which he coached.

An All-Star small forward, Mashburn was a prolific scorer in his 12 seasons in the league, with a career scoring average of 19.1 points per game. He played with the Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat, and the Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets.

"I've always been in business and own franchises of Papa John's, Dunkin' Donuts and Outback Steakhouse, as well as car dealerships. I own over 34 Outbacks, 37 Papa John's and dealerships in Kentucky. I've always wanted to carry a briefcase. It's just something you want to do growing up in NYC. When I was younger, I always wondered what was in them."

"I was thinking about my exit even when I entered the league."
