why can't we all live in peace and harmony?
by "China wanting to settle the dispute diplomatically" do you mean, avoiding putting the issue into international tribunal, and flexing its military muscle in the proximity of the dispute, then yes China definitely wants to settle it diplomatically. The only thing keeping China from going for our throats is the possibility that the U.S. will honor its ties with us and join in on the fray.
although this might be the easy way around this (at first glance at least), if we do this, then you might as well give the whole PH to them chinese. What we are doing is exercising our rights to sovereignty and keeping them chinese at bay. else they will just tell us, "Hey PH! We feel like Cebu is ours as well since their are many chinese firetrucks there". And the list goes on.
We should keep our stand so as not to be bullied by the nonsense of them chinese.
The US backing our back isn't a possibility - it's a given. And I don't think it's just them that will back us up in case this goes to the worst case scenario as everyone on this known planet knows how illogical the chinese are with their claims and that they should be put to the right place.
This isn't the 40's anymore. We now have the internet and everyone is connected and everyone on the planet knows what's going on so no nonsense regime can live as long as they could before the information age.
The chinese wouldn't go to an international court unless they already have someone there that will favor them on this case because they know themselves that their claims are baseless and idiotic while at that.
PS: Why are we still buying their goods again? hehe
"Whereas, all waters beyond the outermost islands of the archipelago but
within the limits of the boundaries set forth in the aforementioned treaties
comprise the territorial sea of the Philippines;"
how can u say na dli na ato na under the UN Convention Law of the Sea where anything that doesn't go beyond 200 nautical miles EEZ is still Philippine territory.
